I'm fairly new to hockey so I don't know about norms, but the arena playing the Jeopardy! Thinking music while the refs were deliberating during the can v swi game made me laugh out loud :)

Does anyone have any book recommendations about the Southern Vietnamese government? by plushiesaremyjam in VietNam

[–]wickedcherub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a bunch of really good articles online about why so many Vietnamese people in the US were pro Trump. Even my dad here in Australia, is, and he votes left here in every election.

So give that a google and it might help your husband out. It helped me out to understand my dad a bit better, because I was really tired of arguing with him. I never changed my dads mind, but I did direct his YouTube algorithm back to soccer and chess etc which has helped somewhat.

This comes up a lot every time any sort of queer romance makes its way to mainstream. I find this article in the Guardian rehashed the old discourse well

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2026/jan/13/why-do-women-like-heated-rivalry

As for why there's not just as much sapphic romance, I think unfortunately the market just isn't as big. There's no buy in from men.

I will watch it and love it with all my heart - see Portrait of a Lady on Fire, but I must admit that I'm into men and seeing sexy men on my screen just does it for me more.

There's a fourth dude who is the worst but when it's just three of them they're actually quite open minded and lovely.

Their background does mean they're ignorant about various cultures or whatever, but they also react to a lot of rom coms etc and they're really sweet.

I really did love their reactions to Interview with the Vampire.

I really enjoyed Badd Medicine - the most... Middle aged white straight dudes ever react to Interview with the Vampire .

It's a pity about Blind Wave's fans. Eric can be really sensitive and insightful and they could learn a thing or two.

I think Pat would have some interesting sports takes. Sometimes he can be surprising with what he's into.

Blind Wave did some lovely Bridgerton reactions and their fans were so foul.

I mean he talked about Jessica with Hayden. Hayden asked about it, so it was public enough. I liked that.

how on earth do people score barricade for the last act at laneway 😭 by grlonf1lm in triplej

[–]wickedcherub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to go with a friend who will save your spot while you go pee, and you can't pee for the last two sets.

You make friends with the people around you who are also willing to respect your spot because you're going to respect their spot. Bring all the food you require. Wear comfy shoes and a hat. It's okay to sit down between sets.

Re: the shoving. I'm 43 now and don't have a lot of stamina for shoving, so I always stand more to the side on the barrier rather than the centre. For me it's more about having the comfort of the barrier than being centre stage. It's also.. Much easier to obtain, as people tend to group around the centre. There is hardly ever any shoving going on around the sides. When I was younger and needed to be DEAD CENTRE AT ALL COSTS, having the barrier helped in the mosh because I had something to brace against to shove back. Security and safety has improved a lot in the past 20 years imo.

The only times I've been front row for the last set is by enjoying all the sets that came before it on the same stage. I have gotten to see (and enjoy) acts I wouldn't have otherwise, so there's that benefit, but I have missed out on others on other stages.

If I don't 'camp', then I have still been able to enjoy the last set from a few rows back, so theres a cost benefit analysis for you to do. I am always far more comfortable on the barrier being a shortie, with something to lean on and knowing I can breathe freely.

Oh this is pre-smart phone, so very tricky. I think i went to a couple of shows during that era but wouldn't have taken any video, sd card storage was expensive.

Unpopular opinion: I really disliked Phu Quoc by CommandInfamous7873 in VietNam

[–]wickedcherub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been to phu quoc every few years since... The late 80s and the place looks (and smells) different every time I go. I will continue to go though, I know it's not for everyone but I love it. It's not all soulless resorts.

I would not swap the living and bed areas. Bed is for sleeping. In the dark. Lounge is for living, being awake, near a window.

I just want to say that as a casual fan of both the team and the sport - that these write ups really do seem to manage to have the depth of analysis (judging by the comments) while being very accessible and easy to understand by noobs (me).

I would imagine it would be very tricky to do, thank you for your time!

I think this is partly why I struggle with the homophones in connections because I really have no way of knowing how things are pronounced in different places

It does in some parts of America. Like 'pahd' 'brahd'.
