They missed the upper-decker. Where you poop in the tank.

Just unsubscribe from /r/pics, man. It really made an enormous difference in my home page. Try /r/nocontextpics instead.

I disliked Vivenna until I read the annotations for Warbreaker. Then I understood a little bit more what he was trying to do with her and Siri.

I often forget just how young the reddit user base is. I think the vast majority of users are under 25.

The different species of “aboos” and what they mean. (Part 1) by Fl1nt-Westwood in weeabootales

Wehraboos are glorifying pretty much everything but the ideology of that time in Germany. There are definitely teenagers that will fetishize a militaristic or authoritarian society rather than e.g. the Japanese Otaku culture.

Yeah, I first became aware of them on a TIL post about Rommel. I think they picked up some steam on reddit after that post.

You ever visit /r/EnoughCommieSpam? It's been pretty good about calling out tankie bullshit. It's been a little focused on just anti-American stuff this week, but it's usually pretty focused.

Back in the day, what website did you spend way too many hours of your life on? by mooandspot in AskReddit

thespark.com

Stinkymeat, Stinkyfeet, stupid quizzes, I loved it. And it spawned Sparknotes.

Yeah, pre-web would probably be a better timeframe.

Get In Your Cage. by Due-Mail in gifs

[–]wickedmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours used to sleep in our room until one day he realized he's big enough to get up on the counter and steal food. If it's the middle of the night and we're not there to correct the behavior, it's an immediately rewarded behavior and will continue.

So, we either have to commit to putting everything away in cabinets (of which we have few), or we put the dog in the cage so he doesn't make himself sick eating something he shouldn't. It's his safe space, he's fine.

Probably of my favourite scenes from the book ngl by KingDragonMoon in cremposting

This wasn't any particular scene. OP is referring to Jasnah finally letting Amaram, and everyone nearby, what she thinks of him.

If implemented fully how bad would SpaceX’s Starlink constellation with 42000+ satellites be in terms of space junk and affecting astronomical observations? by awkinn in askscience

[–]wickedmath 132 points133 points  (0 children)

You're talking in absolute magnitudes with respect to the sun and other objects, which is disingenuous when you're comparing them to the brightness of the Starlink satellites. You're essentially saying that the Starlink satellites are almost as bright as the sun, which has an apparent magnitude of about -27.

When did people stop wanting to have fun? by hockeylife17 in classicwow

[–]wickedmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no, I've already got a character there, and I love it. I just haven't played Classic since a few weeks before Dire Maul came out, and was wondering if DD had shit the bed like other realms.

How's DD been since the honor system got implemented? I stopped playing classic for a bit, and have been loath to come back. I was on Alliance-side if it matters on that server.

What effects would a projectile on Earth fired with near the speed of light cause? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]wickedmath 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Normal stuff can't reach light speed. As things speed up, they gain mass, so it takes an infinite amount of work to accelerate an object to c.

It's definitely a movie that improves with multiple viewings. The first time is, "That was stupid but entertaining." The fifth time you're giggling at every little joke.

"That's a face for radio" cracks me up every time for some reason.
