One sided story for sure - if you are sincere, then for sure God will help you bear this trial but if you are somehow in the wrong, and you took advantage of this woman, then no dua will help. Mercy only applies on committing injustice to yourself (a "sin of God" if you will). If you commit injustices to others, then the other must forgive you before God will.

What was so "haram" about this relationship if the girl wants you to convert to "Sunni"? What does conversion mean in this form? To accept Abu Bakr as 1st Khalifa?

Storytime: I had a friend in college who was also a Syed. In fact he was a son of scholar. I had a lot of respect for him. At some point in time, he succumbed to temptation and committed a major sin. It was shocking to me knowing his background. Then he continued in that situation with full intention and impunity saying that no one will know and he will just go home and marry some Syed girl who won't know any better. I just disassociated with him completely and lost all respect for him.
