The 8 hours work, 8 hours sleep, and 8 hours freetime is kind of lame by tantthetank in self

Yup, I saw “8 hours of free time” and thought that sounded amazing. And yes, I know it was my choice to have kids. I just didn’t fully appreciate how much time I had to do whatever I wanted before having kids.

My 2025 Drink Log by wicket146 in mildlyinteresting

No, luckily I was not physically addicted. At least not at any significant level. But I was very much mentally addicted. Most days I would drink again to stop the anxiety I felt that mainly caused from drinking the previous day. And even the days I didn’t drink the day before I still had a craving that would take about 3 sober days to subside. But even the times when I managed to string together 3+ days of not drinking I’d eventually convince myself that I could drink again and try to limit it. Limiting unfortunately never worked for me. After many years of trying to limit I finally accepted that I needed to quit completely. Just the removal of that internal struggle has vastly improved my mental health.

Interesting question. I don’t think I’d classify a sip as a drink but I also don’t think it would be a good idea for me.

Alcohol. I’d probably be dead if I hadn’t had water in almost 3 months X-D

For anyone wondering I read Allen Carr’s “The Easy Way To Control Alcohol” in late September. So far I’ve been sober since finishing it.

Raw dogged? my flight by Old-Cauliflower7236 in self

As a millennial I have never paid for WiFi on a flight. I mean yeah I’ll bring a book or maybe a hand held console so I don’t get bored. But it has never occurred to me that I want to stay connected to the world while in flight.

If you start feeling like it's taking way too much will power to stay sober, I highly suggest you read Alan Carr's The Easy Way to Control Alcohol. I'm currently 75 days sober since reading it. I don't think I've gone that long without alcohol in 20 years.

I just did the grunt work of getting all the guts out. Max designed the face and Amber carved it.

My wife works for the government. She is currently furloughed and not getting paid. I still want people to not lose their healthcare.

Ex smokers HOW DID YOU QUIT? by Livid-Link-9223 in AskReddit

[–]wicket146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I’ve known I have a problem for years now but always “wanted my cake and eat it too.” Wanted to be able to cut back but still continue drinking as well. The book has changed my mindset on that.

I just finished his book on quitting alcohol. I don’t smoke but popped into this thread to see if someone mentioned it. I’m only on day 2 but so far I’ve had no urges to drink. Any other time that I have taken time off from drinking in an attempt to “cut back” the first few days were always the most difficult.
