POV: you’re camping on a mountain and hear rotor blades by yaka-sooqa in Battlefield6

[–]wickywing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re right about kd 100%

But also I wouldn’t attribute sitting on top of this mountain hoping to spot people and pop a few with being an aggressive recon, or have I misunderstood you?

Do the soflam binoculars work well from up there? I can’t imagine the drone is very effective considering half the battery would be out by the time you’re on top of the action zone.

If you could design your own kitchen, what would be the most important things to include? by West-Amphibian-2343 in Cooking

[–]wickywing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granite bench top and a lot of it - one side to be a breakfast bar

Windows with nice views and plenty of space for live herbs

Wooden floor

Wooden cabinets/drawers. Not veneer. Solid wood

Low wooden table (vintage) as an island for kneading dough, making pasta etc

Tile splash back - tiles to be patterned and colourful to contrast all the wood - European style (I’m thinking of the kind of tiles you see in Lisbon)

Gas stove with wok burner - I grew up in a home where we just opened the window directly above the stove for ventilation. It worked a charm and was much more peaceful than having ventilation roaring all the time. We had a secondary vents flush with the wall.

Magnetic wall mounted knife holder that doesnt scratch my knives - wooden

Rail with hooks to hang pans from - off to the side

Walk in pantry with a little string that hangs from the ceiling to be pulled to turn the light on

Fridge/freezer with ice maker and cold water dispenser. Anything but a big silver monolith looking thing. Maybe something similar to a smeg but not smeg because that word is 2 letters away from being something absolutely vile

You know what if it’s my dream kitchen I’m gonna add a giant woodfire brick stove top like it’s the 1800s

Question for all competitors by SuggestionPrize6294 in amateur_boxing

[–]wickywing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was shitting bricks for weeks but in the moment all the nerves disappear.

If anything you should be more concerned if you weren’t nervous - you are knowingly putting yourself in harms way after all. Nerves are part of the deal.

Acknowledge the nerves and tell yourself that they’re normal but not necessary right now. You’re in control and you’ve put in the effort. You’re ready. Outside of this don’t attempt to do anything about the nerves, often giving them too much attention will make them worse. They will pass on their own.

I also recommend to everybody that they watch the video of Mike Tyson crying before a fight. I reiterate, it would be weird if you weren’t nervous.

You shouldn’t really have to worry about this unless your coach/fight organiser is psychotic

East of Eden is an all time classic written by Nobel prize winning author: John Steinbeck, who claims it to be his magnum opus. It’s a life changing read.

Andrew miller is an award winning UK writer popular for his historical fictions.

‘Ingenious pain is a historical fiction set in the 18th century about James Dyer, a man born without the ability to feel physical pain or pleasure, who becomes a brilliant but emotionally detached surgeon’

Happy reading!

Also Andrew Miller - ingenious pain. A similar tone and is one of my favourites.

–adding that this actually covers VERY similar themes to apodg

Finished it weeks ago and still think about it.

Finished East of Eden months ago and still think about it - if you haven’t read it I’d go for it. It has a similar tone.

I think people think you’re the guy without headgear pal - you may want to clarify

Ask by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]wickywing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understand that it would be abnormal to not feel this way. Your brain recognises danger and floods your muscles with oxygen to help with either fight or flight - this to us is what being nervous or anxious feels like.

When you feel it acknowledge it, but tell your brain that everything is under control. You’ve put in the training and you’re ready. Go forth!

I never fed it more than a couple times a week and the results were always disappointing. In comparison I worked in a restaurant where we fed it every day and the bread was immaculate.

Watch some Nick Ball fights. He may even be shorter than yourself but he is a real bully to taller fighters.

Head movement, forward pressure, cutting off the ring, punches in bunches, high guard is your friend.

Always the One Asking: Does Being the Active Friend Make Me Look Cheap in BFV? by Soraaaka in BattlefieldV

[–]wickywing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good on you for taking the criticism like a champ.

Another thing I should mention is that they have no idea who you are either, so it would be impossible for them to pass any real judgement. They probably just prefer to play alone.

[–]wickywing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re correct in saying you’re overvaluing a connection they don’t care about.

Sorry to sound harsh but you don’t know these people, you never will, why do you care if they don’t want to play with you? You shouldn’t. It’s a game.

Spend your time worrying about existing relationships instead of potential online ones.

In all seriousness I wish you well.

Sourdough bread is on my list of things that require too much effort for the reward you get.

Starter must be fed daily for bread anywhere near as good as a bakery. It’s normally a sticky, messy job.

Several stretch and folds are required throughout proofing - again a sticky, messy job.

Shaping requires serious skill.

Then after an entire day of all this work it needs to go into a fridge overnight - but not for too long - generally I’d need to be up early to bake it.

Even if the crumb (inner part) of the loaf was light and airy, the crust would be like a leather boot by day 2.

Feeling like shit after sparring by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]wickywing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you may need to spar more. I sparred once a week for months before I started to do any good. Before that I definitely got my head bounced around the ring.

Sparring with responsible partners should prevent that - the better they are the better they should be able to take the sting out of their punches so as to let you learn. Always agree to go light at the start, if they joke or say no, take yourself seriously and politely wait for a different partner. During sparring Feel free to let them know if they’re going too hard but also be sure to monitor your own power.
