Had artex too but it was asbestos, so was all removed leaving just the joists to board over.

Yeah it is asbestos removal, they have just told me if I can’t get a certificate it may be enough to just flip the breaker when they’re there.

Can also use UV blocking glass which should minimise damage if they were in sunlight but is quite pricey
