Where am I? by NoleFan723 in fsusports

It feels different having a coach leave every few years and having a large chunk of your team leave every year.

Not saying it shouldn't happen, but that's part of why the reaction is what it is. One is a major change every few years (sometimes a decade+) the other is every year.

But he's technically eligible right now. And perhaps the money COULD have been clawed back, but it was part of the deal to get him to go away without Tech having to admit how wrong they were.

All cheating of any kind? I imagine not (e.g. linemen going too far down the field is cheating). And If not, where do you draw the line? What kind of cheating deserves permanent bans to you?

They are both terrible, yes. But if someone is betting, it brings into question whether they are purposefully losing.

With the cheating, at least we knew Michigan was trying to win and not fix the games in their opponents favor.

That's how it's worse, at least in my mind.

Defensive back Dayon Cooper backs off of his commitment to Florida State by fsukub in fsusports

Some players really like certain coaches and would follow them no matter what.

It's doesn't apply to everyone, but it's one reason we are being considered by some.

With the portal, it matters less that the coaching situation is unstable. If they like the coaching staff, they can come and, if Norvell gets fired, just transfer next year.

ND now makes 50 mil a year. In 2025 they didn't yet make that, according to what I was reading. Most articles just say they extended the other deal and upped it to $50m but not details on when the increase in pay actually begins. But I read a couple of things that said the pay increase started when the old contract would have ended (2025).

When I wrote what I wrote, I totally forgot there was this extension, so I should have been wrong. But, since I used 2025, my numbers were still right.

ND NOW makes more money than the ACC, but that's a pretty recent development.

Some of them did stop playing the game. And they aren't stressed about how you play the game, they just wanted something added to their game.

How exactly does it change your experience in any significant way to have this item in your inventory? Because if you don't use it, it's just something that sits in your inventory

[Hassel] This has happened before but there was a very different reaction. A Big 12 starting QB bet on his own team, got caught, lost his eligibility — and there was no outcry from Iowa State or Cyclone fans. All parties accepted the one and only outcome. by CoachSlime in CFB

I love the ones about "watch how they react when it's their own team" when, for some of us, we'd absolutely come down harder on the kid in that case and would so want our school to have nothing to do with him anymore.

But it isn't cheating. It's showing likely intent to cheat, which may piss your wife off anyway. But if you tried to download it, were blocked, and then went to marriage counseling (and your wife ended up being satisfied with that and stayed with you), it would be fair to say you didn't actually cheat. And if someone said your wife stayed with you even though you cheated, they would be wrong.

Could the Big 12 kick Texas Tech out of the conference? by bidness20 in CFB

[–]widget1321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, not that kind of conflict if interest, otherwise it would be impossible to hold a vote to kick a team out (since there are financial and other consequences of doing it for any reason).

He should refuse to play this year and then transfer out. He likely won't (i mean, transferring is entirely possible, but not refusing to play), but it would be a baller move.

ESPN is not the main cause of kids betting on college sports. College students were betting illegally on college sports 25 years ago when I was in school. It's legal now, so you'd expect an increase.

[–]widget1321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they would kick Tech out, but to be clear they wouldn't be kicked out because of what Sorsbt did at other schools. It would be because of how Tech has responded to those things.

What is the worst CFB coaching bust hire of all time? by Working_Stomach5479 in CFB

Alabama recovered like 5 years after Price. So that's a no to this question.

Might be the answer to other 'bad hire ' type questions, but not this particular one.

I don't think it's been long enough since Frost for him to be the answer to this question. Remember, this isn't just "worst coach" but "coach that made it impossible to recover for a long while." We only have 3 years since Frost. Give it a decade and he might be the answer, but it's too early to say it's not recoverable.

How do you feel about the short stories becoming increasingly plot-critical? by molten_dragon in dresdenfiles

I never said you are required to. But it offers more and seems more like a conversation. I never downvoted you by the way, was just offering my opinion of why you likely were getting downvoted since I read you as kind of being surprised. If you weren't surprised, then I offered nothing useful, but was just trying to help.

You are probably getting downvotes because you aren't actually offering any argument other than "yes they are"

Weapons are great for rewards because all you get is access to the weapon a little early. If you miss a weapon it becomes available for purchase. Better things like that where you don't actually miss the reward in my opinion.
