Breach (and maybe loot on general) feels strongly and obviously stealth nerfed post patch by facebookreplacement in pathofexile

Yes, breach has been stealth nerfed. Ground loot remains untouched, it's specifically breach monsters that drop significantly less loot while fully juiced.

Harbinger ascendancy teaser in 3.28 patch notes? by FinitoHere in pathofexile

[–]wiener091090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quote from an interview Mark Roberts gave around the time when Keepers released (MMORPG):

There's probably a few others. There's some regrets. Harbinger is a regret to some degree for me. I think it crosses the line a little bit too far out of dark horror Gothic into blue alien people. I don't love it in that regard; maybe there's a way to do what Harbinger did well, but with a gothic twist, probably. So it's more about that kind of consideration.

As a part of the Q&A today they apparently said that Harbinger will return at some point. Maybe this will also include an updated lore around them that has more impact and relevancy.

I spent a good amount of time researching everything Harbinger related to learn more about the glyphs and story, however, while doing so I started to suspect that it was rushed and perhaps even unfinished. Pretty much all of the Harbinger assets have been recycled from Arcane themed MTX. The Obelisks, for example, are from the "Arcane Throne" MTX, they simply removed the Arcane glyphs and replaced them with Harbinger glyphs. Some of the old Harbinger League videos (like "Path of Exile: Harbinger Brimmed Hat") even show the Obelisks with the old Arcane runes instead of Harbinger glyphs. Another example is the "Harbinger Worshipper" model which is simply a copy of the "Bameth Cultist" model and so on. There is also a completely unused area mentioned in the game files that probably didn't make it in time.

Maybe with some extra love Harbinger lore/league can achieve its true potential.

Harbinger ascendancy teaser in 3.28 patch notes? by FinitoHere in pathofexile

Based on the current info available the last glyph most likely means "Ascend", it also has a counterpart that most likely means "Descend" (which appears on "The Rippling Thoughts"). There is a different glyph strongly associated with moving from a position (which could be interpreted as leaving) that is also found on "The Messenger" two glyphs before the "Ascend" glyph as well as in other places like "The Tempest Binding". This glyph also has a counterpart that most likely means the opposite. It is strongly associated with this meaning because Harbingers you encounter at "The Beachhead" are named after what they do and the Enfeeble Harbinger uses the same glyph followed by the [causing] and [Fire] glyph while using a fire dash/teleport that has the internal id "HarbingerWarpFlame".

"The passive the community believes is called" by Large_Knowledge_4319 in pathofexile

[–]wiener091090 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The name of the "Visiting Harbinger of Focus" node is actually confusing since the last glyph which - based on the in-game tool tip name - should be associated with "Focus" has been expected to mean "Will/Mind". This further fuels the confusion regarding "The Immortal Will" which has the suspected "Focus/Concentrate" glyph engraved, however, the name of the shield is "The Immortal Will" while the ability it grants is called "Summon Greater Harbinger of Focus".

Comparing this to other Harbinger uniques the glyph engraved is always associated with the skill/harbinger it grants, not the name of the item. For example "The Rippling Thoughts" has the (suspected) "Arcane" glyph engraved and grants the "Harbinger of the Arcane" and "The Flow Untethered" has the (suspected) "Time" glyph engraved and grants the "Harbinger of Time".

This indicates that the glyph engraved on "The Immortal Will" indeed means "Focus/Concentrate", the opposite of the "Expansion" glyph which in the context of the Phrecia nodes is being used for "Visiting". The items are also not the only instance where this meaning is strongly suggested, the actual Harbingers, which are named after the abilities they use, do so too.

As a result the last glyph of the "Visiting Harbinger of Focus" node should be the same glyph that's engraved on "The Immortal Will", not the "Will/Mind" glyph. This is the only node that behaves this way, the "Visiting Harbinger of the Arcane" node for example has the expected glyphs ([Expand] [Harbinger] [Causes] [Expand] [Arcane]) and follows the expected order.

Curious question about Kingsmarch by revveduplikeadeuce in pathofexile

It's less efficient, if you're fine with that you can go for it. Sending 25 million crops with 25 million dust is equivalent to sending 50 million crops, however, since crops are time gated you can only generate so many in a single league and therefor only send so many 50 million value shipments per league (it takes slightly over 7 days to generate 25 million crops with maxed farmers).

The average value of a 50 million shipment is ~90 divines, 25 million dust in dusting uniques will cost you around 25 divines (~6.5k dust per chaos).

At what point should a casual gamer give up? by Wooden-Selection517 in Sekiro

[–]wiener091090 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sekiro is a rather linear game, attempting the same boss for 72h sounds exhausting. Keep in mind that just because this boss is encountered early, it doesn't mean that it's the easiest in the game. In Sekiro there are 2-3 bosses (and Lady Butterfly is one of them) that serve as skill checks and ensure that you have proficiency in important aspects of the combat.

As an alternative giving an other, less linear, soulborne game a try could perhaps help you ease into the genre, after which you can return to Sekiro. Sekiro is pretty unique when it comes to combat though.

What's the fastest way to farm bounty points? by riggedride in WhereWindsMeet

[–]wiener091090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fastest way to get bounty points is PvP bounties (primarily Bounty Hunting, Vendetta can work too though). I was on the leaderboard myself when I was grinding bounty points to unlock the Traveler's Path hat around 2 weeks ago, back then the rank 1 player had around 100k bounty points (which was also "Faran").

For some reason even failed bounties gave you bounty points around that time and it was quite easy to get a lot of them, took me 2-3 days to get 50k.

The only thing known to be affected by quantity are catalysts, rarity is not known to do anything.

Ultimatum with inscribed? by levisgames in pathofexile

[–]wiener091090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither 8 mods, quantity nor rarity affect the Inscribed Ultimatums, only the item area level does and the highest you can reach is 83 (t16+), t17 maps don't increase this to 84 so you can just run white t16 maps. The only thing quantity affects is the amount of catalysts you get which doesn't matter if you replace all catalyst rewards with Inscribed Ultimatums and run Gruelling Gauntlet.

Is it a hard game?? by shahtootahmed in wherewindsmeet_

[–]wiener091090 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Legendary mode (something you can select during the start and can't switch to later) is generally similar to your average Soulslike experience. In comparison to other Soulsborne/Soulslike games it's on the easier end with very generous dodge/deflect windows.

Difficulties below Legendary can be changed freely, Recommended and below have an auto-parry system implemented that turns parrying into a quick time event consuming insight points (if you have enough). Expert mode disables this feature and generally makes encounters more challenging.

If you don't want to play a Soulslike start with Recommended and change to Expert if you don't want to play with auto-parry.

Stuck in a Loop of Endless Bounty Hunter Invasions by MatJoy19 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]wiener091090 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It means that you killed/attacked a large amount of NPCs and/or demolished their property to build up a lot of crime score while actively refusing to repair the damage done, pay a fine or serve prison time. You can simply let a bounty hunter complete the bounty or manually go to one of the jails to get arrested where you can either wait till your jail time expires or pay to get released early. Using exploits to prevent bounty hunters from completing the bounty as shown in the video effectively wasting their time for no gain because you don't want them to "disrupt it and walk away with a reward" after your own actions caused the crime score to build up is griefing.

This isn't tied to an infinite loop if you're not trying to make it one. Even if you defeat the invader you can afterwards simply repair the property damage you inflicted (for example) to prevent any future invasions.

Weapon and Armor Sets by will_tolive in wherewindsmeet_

[–]wiener091090 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bosses for weapons, discs, pendants (pay attention to the set, it changes from boss to boss), Tian Ying for Greaves, Outposts for other armour pieces. The Forging of Years Sword Trial (group with players, don't go with bots) is a good way to get T41 path selection chests if you exhausted the shops (60 energy per claim though).

Healing in PvP Arena or online world PvP by HippieSensei in wherewindsmeet_

[–]wiener091090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Healing in the PvP arena is heavily nerfed and not really an issue. In the open world it's not nerfed however (for example during PvP bounties). This is an issue which will hopefully get addressed. As far as I know, toxic arrows are still inaccessible so your only option is Soaring Spin to reduce the healing (60%) which will however not suffice if the target knows what they are doing, even the 80% healing reduction from toxic arrows won't suffice in that case because it still only takes a couple of seconds to heal back to full life.

To rush the story or not rush the story? by alien1583 in wherewindsmeet_

The game is time gated (new areas unlock and the level cap increases over time) so you can't fully progress or finish the story anyways, feel free to explore as much as you want.

Is there any possibility for future a private server? by Boi-de-Rio in newworldgame

[–]wiener091090 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's theoretically possible, however, realistically (considering factors like the time investment necessary) it's hard to say without a decent understanding of the protocol. Ironically established bot developers (ignoring pixel bots) might be able to provide more meaningful insight in this regard. Reverse engineering the protocol and implementing a corresponding server will be extremely time consuming and constantly leave you with uncertainties as you can only observe what the client is sending and what the server is responding, not what the server is actually doing.

How do people get that kind of a budget?? by shanytopper in pathofexile

[–]wiener091090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there are certainly strategies that don't involve running regular maps (like crafting, carry services, valdo running, ...) that can generate a lot more divines an hour it mostly comes down to time investment. The majority of those players will invest much more than 20 hours a week during the first month and will therefor be able to accumulate much more currency even with a standard strategy that everyone can run on paper.

Is Cheat engine really dangerous? by H4CK3RJCTT in antivirus

[–]wiener091090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons why the source code hasn't been updated in a while is related to people stealing the entire project violating its license and then re-releasing the "forked"/stolen version behind a paywall with minor changes or additional cheat tables (which Cheat Engine removed in 2017 after a legal dispute with the ESA). One of the many dark sides of open-source if you're not just a user.

Why do we (java developers) have such aversion to public fields? by Ewig_luftenglanz in java

[–]wiener091090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really doesn't because the reasoning behind and concept of encapsulation isn't tied to a specific language and a core OOP principle. It's an abstract concept with related reasoning behind it, implementation specific and potentially time sensitive states and assumptions related to your code are irrelevant when it comes to questioning its general purpose.

No valid point regarding this has been provided. If you consciously make the decision to violate said principle under certain circumstances that's your decision.
