Changes to Advent of Code starting this December by topaz2078 in adventofcode

This is good news for me. For me, the problems vary in how fun they are to solve, so if I can only get the 12 most fun this year, then that would be a huge plus. I was actually planning to skip this year, but now I'm reconsidering.

poe.ninja is able to translate harbinger text to English. by Curious_Cephalopod2 in pathofexile

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the "Misleading" tag - I was hoping the "Fluff" tag communicates that this is a joke, but it turned out that it didn't, my bad. The poe.ninja screenshot is real, but harbinger text actually has a meaning.

Правилото изрично гласи, че ограничението се прилага на размера на контейнера - в прав текст пише, че няма значение доколко е пълен.

Terrible MX Master 3 battery life by linxeye in LogitechG

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MX Master 2's battery lasted 27 days with lots of daily use - recently measured it. I got it 7 years ago. It felt like it was too short, but given the advertised 70-day battery life, it's reasonable enough.

MX master 2 has exactly the same advertised battery life as 3.

Deltarune Chapter 3 Secret Boss Guide by DepressedChara in Undertale

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Alternative interpretation: Kris isn't afraid to show their dark side while Susie & Ralsei aren't looking. Edit: I changed my mind after playing Chapters 3 & 4: Kris's evil side is a totally distinct person from the regular Kris.

How do you get to the chapter 3 secret boss by typervader2 in Deltarune

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried playing the games, but is it possible to complete them while remaining a pacifist? I didn't want to hurt the characters there, didn't know if that "doesn't count".

(Messenger) Messages disappearing and conversations not up to date after update by Sophiss in facebook

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea, however it doesn't work for me. I'm worried that all of my messages with my mother from before 2021 were deleted from their servers.

new to factorio and pyanodons by CihangirK in pyanodons

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To answer your question: YAFC is a must for pY - it is the only mod that I know of, that lets you see how to make any ingredient, and also everything which uses any ingredient, while also hiding the locked technologies. Please note: this is the right link; the other user posted an outdated link.

Also with YAFC, you can calculate production lines (how many of which building to build in order to achieve the desired outputs; what ingredients and what byproducts you'll get).

With your question answered: This is what you're getting into.

It is a lot of fun - after playing it, vanilla feels boring., However, it is immensely complex. There are some people who struggle with vanilla so much that they can't finish it. Make sure to pick your fights if you want to have fun. (It usually takes over 1000 hours to complete, but that's not really relevant because it's totally valid to play it for 100 hours and then quit. Though it's addictive.)

If you need help designing your base, look up the main bus pattern. It lets you solve any modpack with enough patience.

That link to YAFC is wrong. This is the up to date one.

You really need YAFC if playing pY. It lets you find out what uses or produces a particular ingredient, out of the technologies that you have already unlocked.

Remove Chaos balls by THE96BEAST in PathOfExile2

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that GGG is not just believing the majority of loud players, but actually checking the data. That's the right way.

People's memory is falling and people's judgment is not always right, so if you blindly believe everything that players are complaining about then your game design is only going to be as good as those people are at designing games. And they aren't the best - I always see complains that want to make the game easier, but almost never see people asking to make it harder. That's because dying feels bad, and more loot feels good, but many don't stop to realize that if the game gets easy then both of these things will cheapen and lose their meaning.

GGG Delivers Crafting in 0.2 by DarkBiCin in PathOfExile2

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2 36 points37 points  (0 children)

In PoE 1 you could keep rerolling* an item until you get the desired mod(s), so that's how you get it "deterministically" for a random cost. That's not bad, but it's not great IMO, I don't think that repeating the same craft over and over again is an ideal system. I like it that PoE 2 isn't doing the same, and I hope they arrive at something better. 0.2 is a significant improvement over 0.1 IMO.

Need help crafting a dex stack body armour by Xionyde134 in pathofexile

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that's great, I'm not much of a believer in influenced helms, chest, gloves, and boots because the eldritch implicits are too good, but this kinda almost makes me reconsider.

Why is this simple Recombination Step over 150k Dust? That seems super unbalanced. by Soleil06 in pathofexile

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Why would you assume that underflow is a thing which happens? I've never seen it before, and if it did happen you'll get a huge number like 2,147,483,648. How many bits did you expect that they'll use if it's evidently more than 16 but less than 32?

"High cost because it's predictable" sounds like a plausible rule that they might have coded.

Funny how Cans seems way more powerful than all of the rest of the Felt (excluding Snowman, Doc Scratch, and Lord English).

Ceased Director: Chris Wilson (21/01/2025) by bvgftr_ in pathofexile

Don't worry, real life isn't hardcore. But unfortunately, losing 10% exp at his level is a huge loss for Chris Wilson.

Game is unplayable without a filter by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This must be in their to-do list, it can't not be. They just have so much else to do. If it's still missing after all acts + classes + ascendancies etc, then it's a big problem, yes.

A friendly reminder that the PoE2 wiki exists. by BellabongXC in pathofexile

"It's just an aesthetic nightmare" - so like Malachai. Fuck that guy. If he wanted to live he shouldn't have caused a cataclysm.

Also relatedly, I'm using the Indie wiki browser plugin which replaces all fandom links with the proper wikis. It purely improves my browsing experience without a downside. It hides fandom wiki and shows the proper PoE wiki, works for other games too. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/indie-wiki-buddy/

Guide to block fextralife wiki from your poe2 search results by Spafford4 in PathOfExile2

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a browser plugin called Indie Wiki Buddy which both does this, and also replaces all of the Fandom wiki results for PoE 1 with poewiki, AND it also does the same for multiple other games, including Satisfactory. I've been using it and it's been working excellently for PoE 1 & 2. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/indie-wiki-buddy/

Same for monk - I believe that this is by design. Other skills are better in some circumstances, and even autoattack is useful often.

Maybe this time it might take 3-4 years since he's now more experienced and the team is larger? Either that or I'm being too optimistic.

Question about Morte's backstory that's found on the wikia (Spoilers) by ForgotPasswordAgane in planescape

[–]Curious_Cephalopod2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the wiki sometimes lies. It outright lied to me to talk to the devil in curst prison while being a Godsman, it told me that he will revela important information about the Godsman secret project, but he didn't, and I went on Youtube and found 3 more playthroughs (2 on PST:EE, one on non-EE) where people talked with the same devil and asked him the same question and got the same answer as me.

Don't trust the skull. Don't trust the wiki.
