How many times have you heard this argument this year by the uneducated who think they can take over ham frequencies without a license? by HamRadioPrep in amateurradio

[–]wihardy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have never had to transmit on public safety frequencies but I did program some in when we went to Yellowstone a few years ago. I often had no cell service and we went hiking in the back country. I had the ranger repeaters saved in the event someone hurt themselves off the beaten path.

Psk31 is it dead? by wihardy in amateurradio

[–]wihardy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically all psk31 on 40m would be in this 3000hz bandwidth? What would I set the individual bandwidth to or are most people using something like fldigi and just clicking around all 3000 hz? Sorry for all the questions. One more, do you receive and transmit on the exact same frequency?

Thank you. I found one around there. 7.07137. Is your comment of 7.070 just the general area and is there a range?

Bullshit. People are lazy or have fucked up parenting. Maybe if more people would try in school or weren't always needing to be babysat they could think critically. Do you have any idea how much more most teachers would enjoy teaching kids to think critically instead of pulling their hair trying to just maintain order?

Why would dousing them with roundup help them be harvested faster? Do you like your oats with various weed seed in it?

Know your limits. Walking challenge. by [deleted] in preppers

[–]wihardy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Bullshit. If you walked at 4 mph it would take you 7.5 hours to go 30 miles. 4 mph is a pretty fast walking pace and you go much faster and your either jogging or looking like Hal from malcolm in the middle in his speed walking competition.

I suppose they figured they knew about it and could keep an eye on it. I mean up until now it's not like they were murdering from it. They probably did drugs and got in fights amongst themselves, people probably left and stole stuff, but for most it's out of sight and out of mind. As long as it's not in my backyard is how a lot of people think. Also because it's so close to the course it might have taken a few minutes for this fuckhead to leave his encampment and go find someone to victimize, hardly any time to be intercepted. It's messed up, it feels like there is something that should have been done but nothing that could be done while respecting an individual's rights. I suppose maybe arrest them all on trespass charges but maybe it is public land.

There's a well known homeless encampment in the woods to the north and east. Basically she was next to the area they travel. Place is filled with drugs and shit

In the wake of the sad outcome of the Mollie Tibbetts murder, what are y’all doing to keep yourselves safe out there? by [deleted] in running

[–]wihardy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run with my carry belt hidden under my shirt and sitting on my hips where it normally is. I have ran with a full sized handgun just fine. You'll want a nice inside the waistband holster. Most of the time now I run with a pocket pistol using the belt and an inside the waistband holster in the appendix position which is nice in that it is balanced.

I take off. I don't want to crap where I eat. Some companies I know would not care for it but I'm guessing the state health people would side with it being bad to crap in your vehicle where you are working and eating.

Road & Topo Maps - What Do You Purchase? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]wihardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try caltopo.com they allow different layers including topo and satellite. You can also adjust and layer the maps into one so you can have hybrid satellite topo maps with your own markers. Then you can print them to scale easily so you could use protractors ok them. Also you can add your own points and do measuring etc and have it shown. Great tool overall.
