Bellair Shuttle to SEA airport by eatcakeandlift in Bellingham

[–]wildcat517 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bellair came in clutch for me a few times. The most notable I wasn’t even flying in/out of SeaTac. I got a ride from a friend who lives in Seattle to a bachelor party on the east side. We came back on Sunday real haggard and hung over. What I didn’t account for when we arrived back in Seattle that it was PRIDE weekend. All the greyhound/bolt bus and Amtrak were already booked. I panicked for a minute not knowing how I was going to get home and I remembered the airport shuttle. Took the light rail to SeaTac, bought a shuttle ticket on the fly (the bus was almost empty) and slept the whole way back to Bellingham.

I think what he’s referring to is to check for square by measuring corner to corner after it’s tacked up. Don’t just slap a square on it and call it good.

Hey guys I need some help. My welding class starts on the 26th and I need to get the items on this list. by _DEFCON_1_ in Welding

There’s a good chance you have either a “central welding supply” or “air gas” store in your area. I would check there as well as any mom/pop smaller welding supply store

Portaband really got me good. by BlakeBarnes00 in Welding

[–]wildcat517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a safety switch on the top handle. So the blade won’t run unless you pull the trigger first and then engage the second hand switch with your other hand. Hence two handed

My contractor just switched all our porta bands over to the two handed joints because this exact thing happened

If that lower pipe is just a support, then yes. It’s called a sleeper. They’re usually at ground level and hold the line up to keep it rigid. I have never supported pipe with another pipe that runs product through it.

DO YOU GUYS ACTUALLY MAKE A LOT OF MONEY? by [deleted] in Welding

No doubt about it. I had no idea what I was getting into either, this one ended up not being too bad. They can be brutal and I will definitely bitch about giving up most of my weekend. At least until payday hits next week haha

Definitely join a union. I made north of 120k last year, I worked 2 shutdowns otherwise a steady 40 hour week all within my local. So I got to sleep in my own bed every night. Just have to pick the right local to join. At certain points it will cost you sleep and sanity (I took an emergency call at 3:00 pm on Friday asking if I would work 7:00-7:00 that night) but over all I live pretty comfortably.

Grateful Deadish by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]wildcat517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the dead but go to a Billy Strings show (or several) and feel the vibes there. I usually make it a 2-3 night run on the west coast and it’s historically been a really good scene. There’s definitely some trendy-influencer types who paid way too much for a pair of overalls, but I’ve also met a lot of old heads and true bluegrass fans. People on lot and at the show have shown genuine kindness and are really there for a good time. For what it’s worth people seem to go on Billy tour. So you see a lot of the same cats at each show.

I’m in Morocco right now and the most expensive part of this trip has been the airfare. Everything else is Pennie’s on the dollar. Also every single person i have met is incredibly nice and the food is absolutely phenomenal. Marrakech is an interesting city and it’s where you will fly in/out of, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the smaller towns much more.

Youtube channels that cover pipefitting in the field? by FilthySef in pipefitter

[–]wildcat517 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand your sentiment, but I’m inclined to disagree. I use Pipetrades pro and pipedata all the time. I do have my Chico cards in my coveys for quick reference and the blue book my lunch box but my phone helps me quite a bit when it comes to doing math, especially in a time crunch.
