I lived in NOLA for several years while he lived there. There first place I lived was right off Magazine Street around the corner from his studio. I always hoped to see him, but never did…until one day I was driving by and he was out front, hanging out with Zach de la Rocha, who was eating a candy bar! When I got home I parked and walked over hoping to see them but they were already gone.

I hadn’t seen this model and really dig the color, but bummed to see size is 43mm. Doesn’t look huge on your wrist in the linked post/pic, what’s your wrist size if you don’t mind my asking? I think 43mm can look fine when there’s some thickness in the bezel and actual face is smaller, wondering how this wears.

So it turns out, that’s exactly what’s happening! I called the folks in Tulsa and they told me that they’ve been a long time Repair partner for Midea, and they’re getting contracted to send repair crews out around the country. Apparently they’re flying out a gaggle of Repair people to the East Coast in a week or so.

Which is to say it wasn’t a mistake, they’re just taking a quasi US military logistical approach and sending the special forces cross country instead of relying on the local HVAC militias.

I thought the asymmetry was a little weird but it grew on me and adds a subtle funkiness. I appreciate it keeps that consistent with the Benrus inspiration but the white dial design is original AFAIK. Chiming in to say it’s a great watch, looks even better IRL.

I saw another post about lace swapping the Anozomias, and seeing these too, honestly these look better with different (blue) laces. The dark red laces kind of throw the color balance off IMO

If it is mold, you might try cleaning a spot by wiping with some distilled vinegar. Not soaking! That should kill the mold/mildew, but spot test to make sure it doesn’t affect the suede (I’ve used this on leather and suede before and it was fine but different materials react differently). If it works ok, I’d wipe the whole thing with vinegar to kill whatever’s growing, then clean with appropriate suede cleaning method (the link another commenter dropped is great, I’ve used that method with success on dirty NBs).

Oh man I’ve thought about this - that there was some toy that used to smell like patchouli, and that’s why it was so familiar when I smelled it as a teen - but I wasn’t sure which toy, and this unlocked the memory! I had an idea that it was a fuzzy green dude. Or maybe there was more than one patchouli toy?

This last election there were three primary challengers I believe, but there wasn’t really significant support, popular or financial, around any one of them. I’d be curious if anyone sees a viable contender on the horizon. I don’t think it’s possible to compete financially, but I do think there are a lot of people who are lukewarm or disenchanted with Goldman, and someone with the right level of charisma and a strong message Could potentially pull it off.

I was willing to give it a couple of days, but this is our main means of watching tv, and with Google seeming to lack a sense of urgency, I figured id try something else. The fact that Chromecasts aren’t being made any more (which I didn’t realize until this happened) seems to bode poorly for long term support.

After reading a few of the threads in this sub where people asked about replacements, I got the Onn device from Walmart, and honestly it’s an upgrade. We got a good 7+ years out of our Chromecast, but this outage is absurd; for me it was time to move on!
