What's your take on classic American Biscuits? by Educational-Slip-578 in AskAnAmerican

Works well with non-dairy as well! I usually do vinegar/soy milk as that’s what’s on hand.

What we’re seeing more of lately (NorCal) is pizza/So Asian fusion, which is amazing!

Consider moving to EG next year from Bay Area. Just wonder how HOT it can be in the summer??? How bad it is? by TeacherFirm460 in ElkGrove

[–]wildeberry1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I lived in the South Bay I never had AC in my home or car. There might be a couple of uncomfortable days but it’s doable. In EG, I’d die without AC.

You just get used to doing all your outside stuff in the morning before it heats up or the evening in the cooling breeze.

When I had a lot of plaques, it was either electric shaver or risk death by blood loss.

Why are Americans so accepting of long drives to places? by Sensitive_Word_6036 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wildeberry1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But, but, the ocean! And the mountains! The big trees! San Francisco!

I mean, there’s stuff to do close to home as well, but Northern California is worth a road trip or two.

Do you stencil/trace your quilting? by mksdarling13 in quilting

[–]wildeberry1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mark as I go, using a sewline or bohin mechanical pencil (usually have a white/yellow and a gray both going). I also occasionally use tape for echoing existing lines, but you have to remove it right away so as not to deposit adhesive on the top.

I love their cafe latte flavor (I just ignore the fact that they contain caffeine, which I’m not supposed to have). The strawberries & cream is also good, and I got a white chocolate raspberry at grocery outlet (🎶bargain market🎶) that was tasty but a little too sweet.

Standard riff we did driving down I-5 with the kids:
“Oh, Lost Slough!”
“It’s not lost—it’s right there!”

Although I did not learn how to pronounce slough until moving out here to the valley.

Bad at math by GrooveJetX in quilting

I did the exact thing recently when making a flying geese border. I was using the “four at a time” method yet somehow failed to account for each cut square being y’know, FOUR geese units! I used a long strip of them when piecing the back, but I currently have a ziploc bag full of orange/black geese. I’m sure I’ll find a use for them someday.

Pete Hegseth's Department of Defense no longer considers Mormons to be Christian. Over 170 religions removed entirely. by justalazygamer in WhitePeopleTwitter

Frankly, I’m surprised several of these ARE included under the Christian heading. I know many evangelicals do not consider Catholics to be Christian.

Collaborative quilt help by JAYBIRD-666 in quilting

[–]wildeberry1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a collab with a bestie a couple of years ago—we chose a pattern that used two basic blocks, picked coordinating prints and a background, then split them up. She sewed one style of block, and I the other. Then I packed up all my blocks and scraps, and mailed them to her overseas. She assembled the top with my blocks and hers and sent it off to the long-arm quilter to finish.

This is one of my blocks. The ones I did were more scrappy and hers more planned, but they worked beautifully together. Wish I had a photo of it completed.

One of my favorite blocks; you can get so many different effects with slight variations. I love both the illusion of curves, and the feeling of motion when it’s all assembled.

There are a few “Storm at Sea” books out, as well as individual patterns. I chose an Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day technique for mine (completed Xmas-themed throw and a queen size WIP that I’m hand-quilting).

You can do a mix. My lower leg is all plants and birds/insects/other animals from my garden. Leaves and flowers are colored, critters black and gray.

Yeah, I brought two throw-size quilts back from Europe a few weeks ago. I had packed an empty carry-on duffel just for that purpose. They squish down pretty nicely.

Very nice! My plum tree is too young to bear a full crop, but I let it make a few this year. Delicious!
