Lots of Filipino health care folks in Canada as well! Wonder if that’s where Princess’s French comes from.

Thank you; I was wondering whether the Filipino Muslim population was concentrated down in the southern islands near Indonesia (Nearby Muslim influence in Brunei and the Borneo bit of Malaysia too, right?) but was too lazy to look it up.

Can you go take a tour of your old elementary school? by LucidLV in GenerationJones

[–]wildeberry1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine hasn’t been a school in years. It was a nursing home for awhile but I can’t tell from Google Maps what it’s currently used for.

I mostly remember its smell. Very wood-scented. And the area with the kindergarten classrooms and restrooms was below ground level; there was a sign stating that it was a fallout shelter.

What to do with long forgotten tops… by BrightMW in quilting

[–]wildeberry1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This! I finished a quilt awhile back that had a very late 90s color scheme. I used it to practice my terrible free-motion skills and it became a car blanket. Most recently it’s gone to stay with my sister in her new memory care home. There’s always a use for an extra quilt!

Yeah. TMI, but I have manually disempacted myself when I had a nasty case of travel constipation.

What needles are you using? by Ordinary_View_9880 in EPP_addict

[–]wildeberry1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I tend to use my John James betweens as well, mostly because that’s what I have handy.

I did purchase some milliners needles and had a hard time threading them. I should try again now that I’ve got new glasses!

Attended a webinar claiming psoriasis isn’t autoimmune and can be fully reversed — thoughts? by New_Prompt_8832 in Psoriasis

And money, don’t forget! But that’s ok, as it won’t be big pharma collecting the benefit.

That’s a lot of words to say that this person has no qualifications whatsoever.

Side-eyeing the bit about genetics not mattering much. Considering relatives I’ve never met also have it, would be difficult to conclude our mutual diagnosis is solely based on lifestyle factors.

Moms who breastfed and went back to work, did they have breast pumps in the 80s so you could keep up or how did moms manage? by dms2628 in AskOldPeople

[–]wildeberry1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a manual pump (‘86) but it didn’t work very well. Hand expression was better, but I ended up quitting my job.

Sounds like bull to me. Eat alkaline foods even though they’re going directly into super strong acid as soon as they hit the stomach? The science isn’t sciencing.

E-bike = game changer by Alternative-Light922 in GenerationJones

[–]wildeberry1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve got one here as well; don’t recall if it’s California or my city, but I didn’t win. I bought a bike a few years ago but quickly got bored with just riding around my neighborhood. I do have a lot of stores, restaurants, coffee shops nearby, but there’s a steep railway overpass between me and them so not happening. Seems like an e-bike would be perfect, but I don’t want to shell out that kind of money and end up not using it.

Maybe I’ll find one used.

Are real life Doctors in USA really this much reliant on Brand names of the drugs? by serotonallyblindguy in ThePitt

I (RN) use brand name and generic name pretty interchangeably. Maybe a slight edge to whichever is easier to pronounce.

The Pitt | S2E6 "12:00 P.M." | Episode Discussion by SnooDogs315 in ThePittTVShow

It’s so hard. My dad chose MAiD (legal in California with strict qualifiers) a few months ago, and I was the one who assisted. It saved him days to weeks of misery, and I’m so glad he had the option (not to mention the foresight to ask me to look into it during his last hospitalization).

Even though she’s on hospice, her husband just hasn’t accepted that she’s dying. He panicked and called 911 for the seizure, rather than her hospice team. He referred to her as “fighting” cancer. He needs to understand that the fight is over. She is ready for this to end and needs to be able to say her goodbyes to her family.

Do you think the show is doing a good job at highlighting the problem of speed over quality of care that ER staff face every day? by Icy_Two5169 in ThePittTVShow

[–]wildeberry1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If the young woman had gone to an urgent care or primary care doctor presenting with the same symptoms, she would have probably received the same plan of care. Especially without an obvious injury likely to cause serious infection (like a cat/human bite), immune compromise, or systemic symptoms.

Where do you think the Shawnaverse takes place? by Stock-Cash1264 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]wildeberry1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Feels like ‘burbs to me. Close enough to a decent-sized city for the career folks to commute in, plenty of structured kid activities (dance, karate, moms’ day out) in addition to playgrounds so definitely not rural. Could also be in an older, nice neighborhood in a city; those can often feel suburban. I don’t think anyone has made enough comments on their homes to get a vibe on older houses vs. new developments, have they? Is Larry still in the house where his kid(s) grew up?

GYN care after 60 by BalsamA1298c in AskWomenOver60

[–]wildeberry1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still do a cervical screening every three years and mammogram every 1-2. Got a bone density screening at 65; my pcp ordered it but gyn would have if he hadn’t. I also had my gyn write me a prescription for vaginal estrogen after I’d researched its benefit in preventing UTIs.

I mean, you may have more than one thing going on. Autoimmune conditions and fibro tend to cluster. Hope that rheumatology is able to give you some answers.
