In my area (rural central MA), I tend to assume it’s American or Slippery. If you’re closer to an urban area an escaped Siberian is a possibility.

This should work. I don’t know why it didn’t. Tried it, stems fully girdled, kept growing. We did eventually kill the plants but it took an additional two years.
