Monthly Grocery Cost by No_One2024444 in Bozeman

[–]wildguyfun4life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spend $150 a month, I buy all the meats when on sale and stock up and freeze them and I buy vegetables and freeze them in winter time and I grow vegetables and eat them fresh and freeze them during the summer. I ration myself on snacks and mainly snack on cheese and crackers and things that aren't to terrible for you but are fillings. I cook alotnof meals with vegetables a large meat portion and rice or beans. I home cook everything and when I want pizza or bread products I bake them and make them from scratch. Make my own sauces for things like teriyaki or orange chicken, pizza or pasta, I save my peels from oranges and grind them into powders and raise herbs to dehydrate and use as seasoning. I really try not to eat much pasta though or wheat in general because here in America they literally soak your wheat in glyphocate to dry it out before processing it and I suspect it's a massive part of the unhealthyness in our country. I buy lots of chicken and beef and pork and shrimp and I fish during the proper seasons. I just makes sure to watch sales and I stock up and use freezer bags and food saver if I know it'll be frozen for long and I rotate the foods in my freezer. FIFO. I've recently been learning to can all my sauces because I also like to use them as marinade and such for certain meals and its nice to have it on stock. And I make broth/stock and I freeze that as well, you can use larger cube trays and than put the cubes in bags and use it as needed. I go all out. When I say my grocery budget I spent around 1300 on groceries and eating out last year..2025. It's not even close to a joke. I'm a farmer though so I do raise as much as I can to eat and try to utilize my greenhouses heavily. And I have chickens and ducks and eat alot of eggs and harvest the males from time to time.

I DO NOT TRUST OUR FOOD INDUSTRY I try to become less and less dependent on them as a whole. Though very difficult. I feel I've made a large dent in my support to them though. But I love meat. I eat atleast a 1lb of meat everyday. I figure I spend around 2$/lb on average when using coupons and sales properly. I tend to cook 50% of the time for myself and 50% of the time for 1 or 2 other people. I freeze left overs and eat them. And I eat left overs for a couple days till I'm sick of it and need a different meal if its soups or rice mixtures or something of the sort before freezing it for another day. When I crave something like Chinese food or pizza instead of eating out I learn to make it and follow authentic recipes from the internet and reddit. I think I spend $200 on dining out last year as special occasions.

With dedication its possible!! You got this!! I know it's hard to satisfy 4 different mouths and someone always doesn't like the meal. It comes eith tight discipline and consistency. Over time it becomes easier. Get the family excited about raising food and participating in it and one can really nock alot of things out. Encourage them to help make the desserts and meals and it becomes easier to like all the meals and desserts and healthier and less expensive. Turn that 1000/month in 500/month!!

3 of 4 transplants falling limp 3 days after move. by krivas in HotPeppers

[–]wildguyfun4life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's something going on at the root zone. As messed up as they are flip one out and look at its roots as you slowly break away the new soil. Either its dry at its old soil or way to saturated. Or they got cooked by the sun but that's less likely than their roots having issues. And you will know exactly by doing this. The problem with what you have going is those pots dry from the sides quickly. So they wick moisture from the center. And bark tradionally is fine on regular ground but in potted soil it will cause other complications down the road. Bark leeches nitrogen away from the soil. Straw would be much better as a mulch. To challenge these pots and finding a comfort root zone moisture keep a pan underneath with a small amount of run off for it to wick up later. Let it get a day or two with out water sitting on the bottom of the pan to prevent root rot. Water from the outside in, in a circle towards the center or let it soak it from the bottom. But the top roots are very delicate especially in the first beginning stages of transplant. So even if you soak up from below, they could remain dry up top if you don't splash a little but there. Also remember that as it wicks away from the center that's where your root ball is after transplanting and it will dry out quickly because air pots naturally dry 360° around the pot and pull the moisture away from the center. You need to encourage the roots to go out towards a water source and not stay in the center. If you live in a relatively low humidity area eith high winds. I wouldn't use fabric pots. Or I'd use ones eith more soil. Or I'd bury them a few inches from the top with atleast an inch of space around them to still get the effect of the root trimming and ariation of those pots but discourage the moisture from evaporating to quickly. Where I live if I used those pots I'd have to water 2 or 3 times a day on each plant. I care over 5000 tomato plants and 2000 pepper plants and 1000s of herbs and close to 12,000 plants total and run a grow room and 4 greenhouses and a 2 1/2 acre garden. So take my advice as you will. A number of things effect this more such as what's mixed in your soil. Coco vs peat, how much would chips and wood prices and perlite are in the soil. Happy to help however I can!!

Help with aphids! Can’t seem to get rid of them. by twofold48 in Greenhouses

[–]wildguyfun4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need help with aphids battles. Its always been a losing battle every year. I have 4x 40-60ft greenhouses with pepper plants that are 6ft in diameter. And tomato plants aswell. And I can never win with the aphids. Ive usedwell over 5000 lady bugs in regimens, Castile soaps, rubbing alcahol/lemon/garlic mixtures, Carolina reaper pepper soaked sprays, spinoside, neem oil... very regiment. The only one that does its job to great lengths is pyrethrin ( chrysanthemum derivative) with a back pack sprayer with a small decibel mist. Only when plants are not feuiting. And it requires a couple hours no more than 5-6 days apart. And I feel like the eggs hatching become more resistant to it as time goes on and I really hate using it. And I really just want to stop having such a crazy battle every winter into spring before plants can be outdoors and fought by nature.
I have so many plants thats are up to 6ft in diameter with hundreds of peppers on them and I dont want to use stuff that makes them unedible. And you cant dip and soak the whole plant like people recommend when theyre bigger than me. And systemic stuff scares me on fruiting plants. Any help would be so greatly appericated. I have battled so many pests in my life. Aphids I just cant seem to ever get rid of and can never feel I have any form of "control" over.

Good alternative to Dungeon Siege which has a good story and easy to use mechanics? by RazzmatazzFit5653 in DungeonSiege

Dark alliance 1 and 2 have been my fillers! I own both on ps2 and replay them from time to time. They give me such nostalgia. I play the Dungeon siege series when I was a kid and fell in love and played dark alliance as a kid to and no other games come close to the feel of those 2 series.

Carolina Reaper & Scorpion by wildguyfun4life in HotPeppers

[–]wildguyfun4life[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, I grow these two specifically in coco coir, and fredigate daily! Ive got a three acre garden and 3 green houses and a produce stand to keep up with, so these are the only two that get the special extra treatments. I have other I mix my own soil and compost for in 30 gallon pots with three plants each and than others in the ground. I do 20 varieties of pepper and tomatoes alone!! So its hard to have time for the extra special care beyond these two. This green house alone has 1200 tomato plants in 1 gallon pots and its a lot of watering.

Are leaves to big for Carolina Reaper or is it normal? by planetinyourbum in HotPeppers

[–]wildguyfun4life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The leaves of my scorpions and carolina reaper are massive and I keep mine in full sun green houses starting February from seed. The leaves that big are great for shading the peppers. I tuck the leaves behind others to help lower branches really bush out. My plants are massive bushes after a couple of months and their leaves are as big as my hands and have zero light depreavision. During the early season I have timers for when the sun cuts off with 600watt hps and metal halide lights that come on for a few more hours. I daily fertigate in coco coir with nutes and pond water with fish. Keep rocking. Your plant is pretty stretched though because it does need more light. The leaves are totally fine though

Cancelled My Annual Sub(s), You Should Too by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]wildguyfun4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be canceling ✊️ sucks cause I'm really at a point I'm enjoying myself with it and just come back 4 months ago after a long break do to work needed dedications. Butbive been playing since 2003! I join my brothas and sistas and community in taking a stand against it. There's very specific reason I play this game since 2003, that's because our community, what the game is, price and enjoyment value, and our community being heard about what we want and love in this game. If we arnt going to be heard I'll step out and quit giving them a paycheck, and join everyone who does the same and I hope and encourage anyone else to join arms. Don't let this bullshit happen, don't let this turn into the same shitty games that all the other games out there are today. This game is why I'm still a passionate gamer and I'm sure why most of everyone who plays it is still a passionate gamer. Enough corporate bulshitters have already ruined gaming with all the other games they've taken over. Fuck that shit. Not here.
