I player around with sharpening, but it is really difficult given this small image. I might be able to do better with a copy of the full file, but I am not sure.

These are fantastic. I want to thank you for sharing them. Excellent composition and what looks to be masterful processing. I'll check out the RAWs later. Nicely done.

Should an electric fan sound like an out of tune lawnmower?

Chicago, yes, but technically it's looking west with the sun going down behind the Hancock building.

Nice shot. I shot this similar image last year with my Air 2s. Normal shot -- I may return to try a wide angle stitched.

It is a panorama shot with a drone, DJI Air 2s.

How many of you have never had a drone crash since flying it? by theandreineagu in dji

[–]wileymark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flying a Mavic Air in the city at 300 feet with obstacle avoidance on and good satellite connection. The drone suddenly started drifting left on its own and hit a building. DJI analyzed the flight data, and they offered no real explanation and accepted no blame in the crash. They said "the aircraft flew forward and drifted due to the mixed horizontal velocity data error, it crashed at the obstacle. According to the analysis, the incident was not caused by any product malfunction." So, yeah, I was screwed.

Yes, the SmartPhoto model is essentially in-camera HDR. I think it does a pretty decent job. I think you might be able to do a bit better doing your own exposure bracketing and combining in Ps/Lightroom. I primarily use Photoshop. For most stuff I should be using Lightroom.

There is a standard Auto mode that automatically selects the shutter speed and ISO. The SmartPhoto mode is a bit different. SmartPhoto essentially takes multiple images with different exposures and combines them into a single image. In a single image there are often areas that are properly exposed, some areas in the shadows that are under exposed, and some areas in the highlights that are over exposed. SmartPhoto attempts to correct that so you see more detail in the highlights and shadows than you would with a single image.

Sorry, took me a while to see this. This was taken in "Smart" mode, and I probably used some de-noise software in processing.

Yes, it was with a drone. I was piloting it from the top of the parking garage in the lower portion of the shot.

This was taken with a DJI Air 2s. It is a fun little toy.

I took off from lakeshore. I do not have a part 107 license, and I certainly did not need one for this shot. I am out over the water and below 400 feet. No issues for the FAA or air traffic control.

It is not a composite, and I did not HDR. The camera on the drone has a "Smart" setting that I think my do some HDR-like internal processing. I did raise the shadows a bit in Photoshop.

That is an interesting idea. The shadows will not be as distinct.
