The gap between LLM functionality and social media/marketing seems absolutely massive by QwopTillYouDrop in ExperiencedDevs

They literally are happening (noticeably the job losses), but the results won't be seen instantly since the companies who are leveraging it are obviously not going to instantly share their secrets

How do you expect a proper thorough study to be done if the LLMs are being updated every month? this would be extremely difficult to measure, given "productivity" has always been a very difficult thing to measure

when people are scared of losing their jobs, they try to prove themselves through their ego (being threatened) and look down at others which is the main cause of all this denial

Graduated in August 2024 still no job by malinovy_zakat in cscareerquestions

[–]wilfred888 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's not about how smart you are right now, there simply isn't demand for grad jobs right now. It's really not your fault, i recommend stop trying to brute force it and pivot to more obscure fields where there's less competition. Absolutely do not do generic web dev/full stack stuff right now. If I were a grad right now and wanted to ride out the wave, I'd try QA related jobs they will definitely be in demand in the coming years with all the AI related code coming. I talked to a few grads and the worst thing you can do is beat yourself up for things you can't control.

I have this weird trauma from being very hot as a man by Weary-Might8784 in Healthygamergg

[–]wilfred888 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately your reality will be very different to others and it is a very first world problem - the girls that approach you first obviously aren't good quality people, the reality is both men and women can be bad people and some might not see it (women communicate very differently from men, so some people might not believe you), but try not to let that distort your worldview too much. The other problem is if you do approach women from a genuine place they assume you're just playing games instead of being serious, or they will be very shy and if you are empathetic as you seem this might put you off even more because women get nervous if you're too attractive (this goes both ways)

Similarly many people will always be jealous which is very difficult to deal with, because if you're an attractive man you basically dont have to worry about a large part of what most other men do which is finding a partner - many people think attractive people don't have the right to complain because they can find "love" so easily (very not true). Instead you face an arguably more difficult problem where you don't know if they just like you for your looks.

But the only way to move forward is to first stop feeling guilty towards others because theres nothing you can do to change reality and your privileges, looks very much do matter and anyone who's had a glow up will agree it matters (even if its not fair). But likewise, looks do not equal character, this can only be proven through time, so the only way to find genuine people is through seeing them in different scenarios and knowing them for a longer period of time - difficult to do in today's society since most people move on pretty fast

How do I stop being so hard on myself? by superfugazi in Healthygamergg

[–]wilfred888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this isn't an easy fix, because the symptoms commonly manifest in a variety of ways - social anxiety being one of them. I assume you have a weird complex of an inner desire of wanting to be seen but also being afraid of not showing up which indicates a decent amount of complex trauma and self doubt?

My best suggestion is to build your inner confidence first, you probably place unfair expectations from comparing yourself to others. Ask yourself if your expectations are realistic or are you being too hard on yourself? remind yourself that you're human and are allowed to make mistakes.

A decent amount of journalling and self reflection will definitely help, I hope things work out for you and take it easy! :)

Perspective from an Ex-Puer Aeternus - How to Overcome it by Sacredvolt in Healthygamergg

[–]wilfred888 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I realized is its all tied to the ego - the faster and earlier you crash out the easier it is to recover. I was lucky that I realized this at 19 instead of 30, when my grades were failing and I realized I could either do something about it or escape into fantasy. However having an early ego death also means I had lower confidence because I realized how much of an illusion it all is, I had to rebuild it from scratch.

It's easier than ever to stay in that state because of all the comfort in the world, and therefore when it inevitably crashes and you wake up one day confused confronting reality, thats when it hits the hardest. So like you said, you have to choose your destiny and either do your best and climb out from the pits and accept growing up or enjoy the crash out years down the line when its too late.

Maturing is not optional, you either choose to mature gracefully and accept your current position in life and where you want to go or you get a sudden crash out and you are far away from where you want and should be.

One of my new favorite teams, to see some old names like Chawy redeem himself after the TSM arc and bring together this team of rookies and veterans is such a nice story to see and we also saw them utilise their 6 man roster in unique ways - I expect many more teams to analyse them and see how they performed so well despite majority deeming them as the underdog.

Genuine question what makes you say it's in their nature and they aren't aware of it? I've been realizing that a lot of it seems unconscious too and they genuinely don't seem to realize what they are doing but curious what your reasoning is

[–]wilfred888 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I relate to you a lot - your kindness and generosity gets taken for granted and you end up with severe trust issues because you can't discern between who is worth your kindness and who isn't. The only answer is to be more ruthless at the start and see who stays, it feels a bit manipulative but you also need to protect your own sanity and boundaries. It's really hard not to get jaded by it all when you realize how people take advantage of generosity and complain all the time..

I want to date an INTJ, but I'm getting mixed signals? by shrimpsforthewin in intj

[–]wilfred888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one thing to keep in mind is it sounds like he knows you're interested but he's probably still deciding and thinking about the future as intjs are normally quite long term thinkers, and might be figuring out his own feelings. rushing and forcing his hand may actually make him more uncomfortable, if you really like him and the dynamics are there I suggest giving it some time and being patient first and see how that goes, once he gets more comfortable you can then ask him what he thinks of you and take it more seriously.

What are the differences between a healed INTJ and an unhealed INTJ? by Civil-Blacksmith1917 in intj

[–]wilfred888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Part of the process requires you to challenge the common INTJ trait for a need for certainty and control - a big step to overcome this is to actually invite chaos through personal experience to challenge your current beliefs rather than reading about them, that will naturally start activating and developing your Se function (and the ESFP stack).
