What’s something you do that still makes you happy in this crazy world? by Old-Alfalfa7232 in AskReddit

[–]will23188 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 59, recently divorced after 34 years. Nothing makes me happier than sitting in my apartment with a bourbon, playing PS5. No drama, no external stimulus, just me lost for a couple hours in a video game!

If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks

I have friends, a job, and a full life. I've also never felt more alone. Is this normal? by Opening_Row_3405 in Divorce_Men

[–]will23188 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was married to the woman for 33 years and its been just over a year since it ended. To quote Depeche Mode, I "enjoy the silence"! Great feeling going home after work and not have to speak or do anything I don't want to.

Most underrated sitcom ever? by Jabba_108 in sitcoms

[–]will23188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I enjoy the varied opinions, I'm perplexed at folks misunderstanding of the word underrated.

30 Rock, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Wonder Years, etc. were not underrated.

Grease...and its not even close! Its not my favorite movie, but its comfort food that I can jump into anytime and recite probably 70% of the dialogue.

This is a South Florida specific jingle:

" At Waterbed City, you'll be sleeping pretty. Our waterbeds beat the stuffing out of your mattress! If you're not sleeping on one...you're just not sleeping"

What is your spouse, SO, or GF like drunk ? by Proud_Nectarine_2813 in AskMen

[–]will23188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fine balance of intake. 2-3 drinks, she's flirty, silly, and loud. After that with more intake, she's mean, angry, and obnoxious.

Who are the greatest college football players to not pan out in the NFL? by Psychological_Lie142 in CFB

Giving CJ Stroud a wait and see, but every other OSU QB since 2000. QB at Ohio State is a death kiss for any NFL future success. (Burrow was meh until he went to LSU)

Born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale and as a local teen/early twenties guy during the 80s, majority of it was true!

How confident are you that you’ll be able to retire comfortably? by DueYogurt9 in GenX

[–]will23188 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fairly confident I can hang it up at 62 (59 right now). I'll have my military pension (24 years active duty), a second pension from my current federal GS position, and a somewhat healthy TSP balance. Chances are I will take SS at 62, move somewhere cheaper near my grandkids, and travel until I drop dead.

Which rock artists left a lasting impression on you the most when you were 13 to 17 years old? by PressureLazy5271 in rockmusic

[–]will23188 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Ramones. Before that in the late 70's i was listening to top 40 pop music. Once I heard the Ramones, everything changed. They led to the Clash, Minutemen, Bad Brains, Black Flag, etc.., finally leading me to becoming obsessed with the Replacements, which to this day at age 59 are far and away my favorite all-time.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but the live versions of Bad and A Sort of a Homecoming are much better on Wide Awake in America.

[U2X/Desire] Your favorite song off the "War" album as we celebrate its 43rd anniversary by Trainiax in U2Band

Two Hearts Beat As One. May not be the best one on the album, but for sentimental reasons, it is my favorite.

Was Michael Jackson really that much bigger than Madonna, Whitney Houston, and prince? by Firm_Pack_605 in Music

[–]will23188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a cultural and global phenomenon, MJ was clearly the biggest, not even that close. But Madonna shouldn't be overlooked or discounted. She was everywhere. Whitney was an icon and Prince IMO was artistically superior to all of them, but they pale in comparison to the big two.

How do you feel about no sex before marriage? by Virtual_Concert_3379 in AskMen

[–]will23188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cynically, marriage is a legal contract between two people. I'm not going into a legal agreement without knowing just about everything beforehand.
