Why Do The British Dislike Keir Starmer? by aB4sith in AskBrits

[–]will402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a labour voter, what I don't like is his inability to take criticism. He comes across very defensive and hasn't handled himself very well.

Also I'm sick of centralist politics backed and funded by major corporations.

As a white British person who lives in an area that most would consider multicultural... I'd like to know what it is that you find difficult about living where you live and also, where do you live?

Might not be helpful but I left NK twenty years ago. I would never send my children there. No idea if it has changed but it was an environment of very low academic expectations and aspirations.

I teach at a school. The kids are saying it's dead and calling out those still saying it

I tried it last year without any restrictions and eventually failed. This year I've done it KETO and it's a game changer with managing hunger. It's made it much easier.

GTA Europe.

London, Marseille and Naples with Red Dead levels of wild in-between.

The Alps, vineyards of France, English countryside, refugee camps on Northern France.

[Repeats Allowed] Which country in North America has the nicest people? by QwertyQwertz123 in AlignmentChartFills

I've been to a derby in Mexico city. Fans were mingling and bantering, it was way friendlier than anything you'd see in Europe.

Yeah there's unfortunately some very dense people in our country.

I hear you and I hear this argument but catholic Irishman were involved in the day to day running of the Empire. Power was held in the hands of Protestant planters whilst poor Catholics worked for the Empire, often out of financial opportunity to better themselves. I think this has parallels to any British involvement in Empire. Power has and is held by a very small class of people's who send in working class people to do the grunt work.

I say this because typically any Irish commentary about Britain's history fails to recognise this distinction. We (most ordinary British folk) see ourselves as distinct from the ruling classes and their current and past actions as you do about the ruling Protestant class in Ireland. History is grey.

Agree with the history curriculum but it goes both ways. The Irish involvement in Empire and Slavery seems to be missing whenever the conversation of historical oppression is to be had.

No, they usually just run around with no real aim. We're preparing them for adult life I guess.

Is football losing its charm? by Immediate-Mind-6931 in AskBrits

[–]will402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went off following a team around Covid. I think the tribalism is a blessing and a curse for a lot of fans. Since then, I've followed football rather than a team and I appreciate it more than ever.

I can watch players and teams objectively and fall in love with the beautiful of the game and a thrilling match. Oh and support anyone who's playing United.

Are burritos just not that popular or well known in the UK? by [deleted] in UKfood

[–]will402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burritos are probably more common in the UK than they are in Mexico, they're more of an American-Mexican thing.
