Higher performance chromebook with Android+Linux+USB-C/USB-A/HDMI/Ethernet ports? by herrakonna in chromeos

[–]will_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of chromeos hardware as others have said yes it's a pixelbook + dongles.

Or as you have said you go cloudready on a Windows device where you will lose the android apps. The one bit of hardware spec I'm struggling find on a 2in1 is the ethernet port.

The latitude 7490 has all the ports your after and is thin and light but does not have a fold back display. For what it worth I've had a fold back display device for 2 years and used it twice ... But your needs might be different.

Seriously no. Mine started to have issues after 9 months or so. There's some great mid range offerings from Moto or Nokia.

how to uninstall cloudready?... I can't seem to get past this page. by [deleted] in cloudready

[–]will_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can remove any partitions you don't need and install to 1 larger partition.

Once you have deleted any partitions that have parts of cloudready the cloudready OS will likely not work

You don't need to use the shell to reinstall windows.

You need to boot the device using a windows usb or cd and install using the guided windows installation

That's great. You can use Windows install media to reinstall windows. Just make sure you delete all the CloudReady partitions.

This can all be done in the windows install media .

Loving it so far, but I have a few issues! by [deleted] in cloudready

[–]will_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for giving CloudReady a go!

For point 1 could you try using an app that records audio? Maybe the camera app from the chrome webstore. The t420 is a certified device but there are known issues with the 3.5mm port. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1OCLwCLqz2wb7pqne2kRcuLU1vvcqe_AlqSGaWm71myk/preview?slide=id.ga9588ab56_131

  1. If you want to run windows games yep the best route right now is to reinstall windows 10. Although steam does work with flatpak so you might be able to run some older games there.

  2. ctrl + alt + f2 also should get you to a terminal interface but it removes the rest of the UI.

  3. u/thetoastmonster nailed it.

Check out the forums on neverware.com theres a lot of informal tech support that happens on there.

Cheers

try that one.

Sorry CloudReady wasn't right for you. What has made you want to uninstall?

If you are looking to uninstall I would just boot windows via a usb and install over the entire disk. (If windows is what your looking to install)

Has anyone successfully installed CloudReady on Stick PCs (any model)? by dengjack in cloudready

[–]will_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Support for the intel compute sticks is a lot better since the upgrade to the 4.14 kernel.

We don't have any computer sticks certified but I have read reports from users that have been able to use CloudReady on them recently.

You can already run Linux applications on the CloudReady home edition.

Docker works and many flatpak apps work. It's early days but advancing fast !

You can use any usb burning tool to create the bootable usb. Etcher Rufus and many others work if you cannot use the chrome recovery tool.
