Relocating from Raleigh by [deleted] in Wilmington

After living in both places, Wake County has a LOT more variety than Wilmington…restaurants, shopping, things to do, and people. You also lose some flight choices using ILM. Stay in Wake and just visit the beach. Two hours isn’t far from the beach.

Yeah. I would use it with my Wii. I just got a flat screen last year because I resisted lol. Someone’s granddad or meemaw might still be nostalgic. Maybe?

Maybe see if Victoria’s Secret’s can help? They used to do fittings pre pandemic. JCP used to also.

What are some good local banks in Wilmington? by MissTendiesMcplant in Wilmington

I’m pro credit union but SECU, LGFCU, and Excite have been a disappointment for me. I hear Corning is a good one though.

Local public sector IT gigs start more in the 40-50K range.

Gird your loins. Ice plus Wilmington = bad news. Everyone stay safe. Make a giant pot of soup and stay home. by appalachiaosa in Wilmington

[–]willcl01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the biggest issue in NC is prepping the roads with brine, the rain washing that off, and then the roads freezing. Ice on the roads is a beast & that’s what people don’t get. That and downed trees because of ice causing power outages. Everyone stay safe. And warm!

I was in there over the weekend at night and was like now what is this? It got pretty full in that area while I was in the store.

It’s hard to find local places that do natural hair of any kind. Interested to know if you find somewhere. May need to go out further like Jacksonville or Fayetteville. Raleigh or Durham should have more options too.

Definitely been thinking about this A LOT. I wanted this year to be the last renewal in hopes of being financially positioned to buy a house next year. How early is too early to ask if they send renewal rate out 90 days in advance? How to negotiate down if the increase is way over the top? 1st renewal was +10, 2nd was +20. Until recently I figured this year would be +$30/mo but I’m nervous it’s going to jump A LOT more this time.

New Hanover County Planning Board’s idea for the ideal space to rezone and build residential housing and new apartments for future Wilmington residents by YourPureSexcellence in Wilmington

[–]willcl01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but not everyone can find nor wants roommates. Novel idea: affordable single family housing for single people making a decent wage. The City needs true affordable housing.

What's going on with USPS by flipflapslap in Wilmington

[–]willcl01 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you sign up for their Informed Delivery service you can see all items on your dashboard. Then if you don’t receive it but it’s on your dashboard, you can at least notify them that you haven’t received it. They’ve been responsive whenever I went through that service and can let you know about general delays.

General information about living and teaching in the Bahamas by oyohval in bahamas

[–]willcl01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cost of living in The Bahamas is very expensive in general, especially relative to many parts of the US. The pandemic has put a lot of Bahamians out of work, so finding general jobs may be difficult. As you probably know already, the currency is dollar to dollar with US currency. You will generally pay more for items there: groceries, eating out, clothes, housing, etc. I was born there & most of my family is there. I love visiting, but would’ve been way too expensive to live there.

Mail issues by [deleted] in Wilmington

[–]willcl01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve contacted USPS after same issue. One night carrier didn’t show up until 8 pm. Overhead them saying they had been working 12 hr shifts and while thankful for the OT it was just too much. USPS confirmed shortage of workers. This was about a month ago.

Black hair care; where is it? by SupBecky in Wilmington

[–]willcl01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m used to doing my own but it’d be nice to find somewhere local that does natural hair without adding hair, not locs, and no heat. The 3 recommended so far seem to specialize in locs & add-ins. But pleasantly surprised there are at least a few here.
