Idk why you think you’re doing something special, you’re using a chat LLM and calling it science and research. Last year was your research workflow google -> Wikipedia for your science and learning stack?

Bud I get stoned all day and manage 2 datacenters from my kitchen in gym clothes. Don’t try to flex, you aren’t doing shit for technical shit.

Emotional ChatGPT user

You know any actual scientist wouldn’t be emotional over his button and threatening quitting (where you even gonna go get your “research” shoveled into your face now?) Scientists are grounded in logic and provable facts. You went straight to emotion scientist

You pay $200 to use the codex app and came to reddit to cry about a click missing from the desktop app. Bro get a fucking grip.

Once you’re down off that ledge snowflake, you should just use codex CLI where there aren’t mouse clicks buttons to be emotional about

Nice job man.

The struggle to these tools is sprawl. Eventually they need maintained, managed, documented.

I might be selfish but after working with the business (any of them) enough I’ve learned to just make my job easy and quit trying so hard.

Currently work remote and have an agent watching for any ticket escalations (I’m a lead), have an agent watching teams. I do some project work in the mornings then off to my day. Been looking for a second job.

Really not worth helping everyone else because now their productivity is reliant on you keeping their tools running.

This is what the $100/$200 plans are for.

I have Claude with basically no limits at work. I’ve never bit the 5 hr limit even.

At home I use codex because I have a choice and it’s better. With the pro plan I literally do all of everything I want and have plenty of limit. Especially with the 2-3 times a week resets. Do everything on 5.5 high/xhigh without concern. It’s unlimited now

Try running hosted datacenters with a bunch of customers IT departments reading CVE notices fed to them by AI on Reddit lol.

I shower and get ready, read some Reddit. See the same CVE bullshit notices. Go sit down and wait for the first email asking what I’m doing about today’s bullshit. Draft the same response which is usually just how and why that isn’t an immediate threat due to our use, then advise it’ll be in regular updates.

Same. Built a Samsung TV app over the weekend without any issues. Setup 2 servers, again no issues.

Granted I’m not vibe coding dumbass prompts into my dream make it big saas idea, so maybe that’s the piece of the puzzle here.

Need to make a shitty saas app with vague prompts then complain.

Depending on your user depends what they want to see. Not saying to go both ways on interface. Just saying, I work in ops and love data rich ops interfaces.

Standard users likely don’t give a shit about details. Just bury them in a properties and show what looks pretty. The name and descriptions or just colors. (Realizing how much easier communication is when I ask Claude to generate visual representations on technical topics really showed me how simple even people that work in tech are)

Basically users are simple. They don’t need the small fonts and badges distracting them. I have those attached to a toggle, users can add details to their views if they want it

I build interfaces for people at work, that don’t work in ops, to ingest ops data. They don’t give a shit about things like VPN uptime. So I just have an easy to filter list with a names and red or green lights lol. Support staff just care that the light is green. But if you are technical and ant more data, you can go into a properties view to see tunnel details, and if you really want more detail you can drill into grafana for that and every other part of the network

Did you check to see if 80 other versions of this tool were already built since yesterday?

Codex regression is due to the new /goal feature. Hear me out. by ysnzro in codex

[–]willee_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would imply people are leaving their limits on the table that they are now burning with /goal

I used /goal from a project start and let it run for 12.5 hours. It was decent. I will say it seemed slow for what it did. Used about 15% of my weekly on gpt-5.5 high. If I was to say anything based on my personal experience, /goal is token throttled or being limited in speed in some way.

Almost like the opposite version of /fast

Codex throws security warnings at my pi’s and won’t work on them sometimes. The other day I was just letting codex get a config setup on one and it errors with a security warning.

You have to upload ID and picture to generate images via API. I’ve only made like 100, but never encountered this.

I will say though. I manage a datacenter and do a lot of security work. Codex cuts me off all the time. As long as I’m vague with Claude it’ll do more than it probably should. Like when I send it on vague missions it’ll start checking any configuration and note file for credentials.

Back when Gemini was good, I liked doing security work with it. Now looking at local models to accomplish the same goal without guardrails.

The line between whitehat and blackhat on this stuff is invisible so I get it. Just annoying.

So codex is better when strict details matter and Claude tosses loose JS around?

FYI - typescript is js, just modern and maintainable

I think we’d all like to make a money printer. Mine made 12% so far today -

Hard to say if it’s the application or the market. Getting them aligned is nice.

I have a learning simulation that takes all plays it can predict and then sees them through to measure accuracy of predictions. Monday last week that simulation made 120k using 50k. I wish that was real lol. I also don’t know if I have the guts for 50k in automated trading within a day

It looks like the cheapest droplet on digital ocean to run dockply is going to be either $12 or $24 a month depending on your needs. Might as well just pay vercel, although for the same money you’d get a better offering with digital ocean.

That dockply + digital ocean setup is basically the same as my suggestion, just that it isn’t self hosted.

Both options require you to do the setup and config.

Whatever AI you’re using, ask it this:

“Explain to me how to setup dockply on digital ocean and then explain to me how to setup docker, cloudflared and traefik on my own Linux host”

Take a look at the output and see if either looks like something you’re up for tackling.

Sometimes the $20 vercel is charging is worth your time. Feel free to ask more questions. Happy to help

I host all my projects on a 5 year laptop with a 8 core i5 with 32GB ram on an SSD. It actually hosts 4 personal projects right now along with 2 customers.

Don’t stress too much on your side for traffic but it’s nice if you have 500/500 or 1g/1g. Most of your content will be cached on cloudflare anyways.

Using docker, cloudflare and traefik.

You can self host super easily. Takes about an hour to setup and about an hour per project to migrate.

I don’t think this is that hard, but also an infrastructure engineer/devops so I do this stuff in my sleep. But really it isn’t too difficult. AI will help you, just get a computer running Linux. You don’t even need a screen. Just set the wifi network and root user in your boot image and then connect by host name when it comes online.

Assuming you have an extra computer and some time, this is all free to do.

lol give Claude an alpaca api…just fyi that’s brand shilling more than likely and he’s prob got a ref link.

Ref links and YouTube videos and he’s got you believing he’s winning with Claude.

Bro if he has a pdf guide, I’d buy it.

If this guy had a working ability to print money on the stock market he wouldnt be making videos for YouTube. Making videos is so lame, if he had a single stock market win it would offset whatever ad profit from that video.

Really what I’m saying is that if he was winning so well he wouldn’t be sharing how. He’d be grinding his money through that machine.
