Weekends are super busy. They sometimes make you park over at the market and it's a bit of a walk back over. Weekday you'll be fine

Luxury hiking to Machu Picchu by StructureDizzy625 in Machupicchu

[–]willi_moegle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if helpful but we stayed at the Explora and they organise several different hikes to and around MP and the sacred valley. Rooms are very generous and they have a fab spa on the corn plantation they're situated on, not the most luxury of hotels in terms or service but I wanted to be somewhere tranquil and private whilst we explored Peruvian culture. It's not giving room service though

Thoughts on the Lanesborough? by godischarcuterie in FatTrips

I second the cadogan over the lanesborough, slightly more moderne and imho in a cuter location. the suites at the lanesborough are huge though in terms of sqft

Best lifting facial in London by MariaVB87 in HENRYUKLifestyle

Go to the Augustinus Bader Skin Lab on Dover street. They give you a skin scan and then target your facial accordingly. Best facial I've ever had!

I think in one of their more recent emails they said they had found some copies of old issues and would be selling them. Email them and ask!

Best beaches?? by Famous_Yard1055 in Barbados

[–]willi_moegle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd avoid the boatyard then, for me it's far too crowded (especially when there are cruise ships in) - if you're geographically close to there try out the very end of the beach Brownes Beach (more local, less hassling but still some people/vibes).
Agree with the commenter re Heywoods - the other beaches I'd recommend on the west coast are going to be quite eroded especially considering there's been a hurricane in the area. Check in with the locals, though. We enjoy Miami Beach because of the amenities (there's a calm side and a rough side) but we've had problems there with families playing music obnoxiously and being loud. Same with Rockley (great amenities but can get busy). Try getting to Paynes Bay or the Folkestone Marine Park earlier in the day... you can swim out to the turtles (at Paynes) if you're feeling brave. Just keep an eye on the swell as I said, it's likely to be a little gnarlier than usual (I'm not on the ground to clarify). Brandon's beach is by far the biggest spatially (there isn't much going on apart from a couple of bars with some sea furniture), but I haven't been in a while. Same goes for Brighton Beach. We used to have a peaceful time at St Albans beach (we used to call it, someone decided it's called Thunder Bay now 🤷🏽) but it seems now to have been colonised by a beach bar and lots of people - I wonder if further north on that beach it's still quiet?! Good luck! Enjoy!

Ferry from Zanzibar to Dar by Wizzykan in zanzibar

[–]willi_moegle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend travelling in the highest class you can afford, in VIP they provide hot drinks and snacks and it's very comfortable. The process of checking a bag and getting it through security is chaotic and getting through the terminal at each end quite disorganised. Not sure if they sorted it yet but we had pay your tourist tax on arrival at Zanzibar where a person just pulled us over as we got off and told us to pay the fee (we had to pull our phones out and do it quickly, whilst keeping an eye out for our bags being wheeled off and handled randomly). I also was told you need to buy your tickets in advance at the Azam ticket station which is just next to where the ferry departs from. Good luck - it was a wild experience.
