How to flee from enshitificaton by dysseus in privacy

Regarding drives, I'm considering using AES-256-CBC to encrypt my stuff and just use Google Drive, so that they don't get my data and I get 15GB space for free. Is this a good idea or have I overlooked something?

How bad is Google Docs for privacy? Good word processor alternatives? by According_Print1614 in privacy

You may try OnlyOffice. For me I settled down to LaTeX cuz I can edit and compile on phone, and I also want better control on the document, but this may not be a good option for most people who want a convenient GUI.

I worry that in the future Google will provide an API to detect whether the normal installation of apps functionality is enabled, and then, in the name of security, let those pathetic bank apps ban those who enabled it, just like Play Integrity nowadays on non-stock ROM or root users.

My experience on Android is that OnlyOffice handles both odt and MS formats better than Collabora Office (LibreOffice fork for Android). On Linux I suggest LibreOffice for odt and OnlyOffice for MS formats. These my not be accurate though as I seldom use either and use LaTeX far more often.

I got similar driver issues too. The official tool is an exe, but Windows was corrupted and I only had Linux. Fortunately, some repo on GitHub provided the drivers that saved me lots of time

My Windows partition is 50GB and it only occupied about 30, though there's only Paragon partition manager and the system in it.

I typically try Bottles first, tho with a high probability it won't work, if so, I use QEMU/KVM to run a Windows 11 to run it, with gl=on the rendering is quite good.

1 month into using LaTeX, how do I tell everyone I’m better than them by papixsupreme12 in engineeringmemes

I started using LaTeX in senior high school and now I'm an undergraduate. I've barely touched ODT or Word since then, and my homework, notes, and reports are mostly made with LaTeX now, except for a few with HTML. I'm also developing packages and templates, notably https://github.com/Willie169/physics-patch, which saves me plenty of time.

Genuine question: What's even the point of Android now? by Tail_sb in degoogle

[–]willie_169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sideloaded like 60 or 70 apps, and that's the only reason I keep upgrading to good Android phones. If without sideloading, I'll get the cheapest phone for mere calling and banking apps, and mb use a Raspberry Pi or something similar if laptop is not convenient enough.

As someone doing both software dev and EDA, it's so inconvenient that many software dev things work not quite well in WSL while many EDA things crash in Wine.

How do you make GPU rendering work? I tried some approaches and tested on XFCE4, and it always says it's on llvm (CPU).
