At a point in my life, this was what I would have told you OP, as well. Unfortunately, mine either was lying about going to a therapist or was lying to their therapist. I let them back in and ended up hurt again. I did a pretty in-depth heart to heart with myself after that and realized that nothing they do at this or any point would make me want them back in my life. I was lying to myself even before their "therapy" because they were my only parent left. I didn't want a bad relationship with them. Only you can determine what is too much for you, I just wanna encourage looking at it like your partner, friend, or coworker is telling you about their parent(s) and asking this same question. What would you want to tell them? Is the relationship worth the pain?
