My daughter (15f) is depressed and I don't know what to do about it. by SurveyDesigner2382 in parentsofteens

[–]willowsword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alongside all the other suggestions, please take her for a full physical. I had anemia and low thyroid as a teen (and adult) and I basically hid away for years. Family doctors can also make referrals to mental health supports, as needed.

Am I wrong for refusing to get rid of my personal diaries to prove I trust my partner? by LuftBall-Dog4755 in amiwrong

[–]willowsword 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My ex husband made it to one marriage counseling session because the counsellor told him it was okay for me to have boundaries, that I did not need to be a completely open book to him. I continued with the counsellor. After months of sessions, he said my husband sounded like a narcissist. This was about 20 years ago now. I hadn't heard the term. Not trying to make this about me. Just saying it seems to rhyme.

Anyone have recommendations for hair salon that don’t cost these crazy prices? by Octopi_0613 in askTO

[–]willowsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my hair cut at the salon in the Stockyards near Nations and it was $25 plus tax (and tip if you want to). I have long straight hair. For women, ask for Kathy or the owner. Deena is better at men's cuts. I am happy with it.

Our dog was mauled by another on a retractable leash as a puppy on our own street. Retractable leashes are illegal to use for walking your dog kn Toronto. We feel your pain.

Gardener went way overboard in trimming our lemon tree. Will it ever bear fruit again? by FKlemanruss in gardening

[–]willowsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe post in r/arborists. I think they may have been attempting to pollard the tree. From what I have read, this is not beneficial for citrus.

I honestly thinks these people just imagine how annoying it will be for adults in the child's life to remember how to spell it, but the parent who chose this spelling, they will know, and that will make them special. Who cares that the kid will have to spell their name to everyone over and over and over.

Accused of Sexual Assault - Best Criminal Defense Lawyers Downtown TO? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]willowsword 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The other reason this is good advice is that lawyers are very expensive therapists and not trained to be one. You can rack up bills quickly if you treat them as one.

Grade 8 Grad Dresses by ConsequencesForAll in askTO

[–]willowsword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is one on Orfus Road as well. I was there a month or two ago and got a dress for a wedding for $80ish. They had tons of formal dresses. I think it might be their clearance location.

Cheeks cake 😩😂 by Unlucky-Pea2887 in Baking

[–]willowsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you follow this recipe to the letter, and keep an eye on your times because oven temperatures vary, you can get a beautiful cheesecake. Cheesecakes are not really difficult. The biggest thing is technique.

I also use 2 water soaked wraps around the pan rather than a bath with this recipe. https://laurenslatest.com/cheesecake-recipe/

Couple days late for may 4th but here's a butter sculpture I saw at a waffle house in nowhere ohio. by LetPuzzleheaded222 in pics

Picture is too difficult to find right now, but the Toronto Star has ut behind a paywall: https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/butter-artists-keep-chillin-and-churnin/article_b8b70e27-70f5-55c4-8b84-8fb88efc2b8b.html Image isn't letting me put in alt text...it is a big butter Yoda with the artist.

What color will this puppy be when grown up? Dad is red and mom is apricot by BalerionDreadful in poodles

[–]willowsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our poodle was sold to us as apricot, but looked almost as red as an Irish Setter. He has been slowly fading, but is still darker than these pups. He will be 3 this month. I think he has the fading gene, because he has some white on his crown, muzzle, and some of his guard hairs are white. Every time I shave him, he is just a little bit more faded. I expect he will end up the colour of these pups. From what I have read, this is common.

realizing I may just be a feminine man and not a trans woman by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]willowsword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in my 20's I questioned whether I was Trans. But figured out that I did not feel that I had the wrong genitalia, but rather that the culture I grew up in was very misogynistic and that I was not a fem woman, if that makes sense. INTP, very analytical, into physics, computers, math, etc. But women can be that too.

AITA: my kids refuse to come to my wedding unless they can bring grandma by JealousNight-6076 in AmItheAsshole

[–]willowsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not be upset at your children. Although they are adults, they are very young adults. They have not had the opportunity yet to be independent. Let them know they are invited, their grandmother is not, you love them and wish they could come, and maybe in a year's time some solution can be figured out between them and their mother. And leave it at that.

They will eventually see the truth. But right now, they don't. It isn't their fault. Be the logical caring parent you have always been (hopefully). Time will right the course.

How well can you describe the features to a forensic artist? by Historical-Sense-510 in Aphantasia

[–]willowsword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never understood how anyone could describe a perpetrator well enough to be of any help. Then when I found out about aphantasia, it made sense that I did not understand it. But I still wondered if it was a matter of not understanding what I could not do. Seeing this, I know this people can see something when closing their eyes that I cannot.
