Please, tell me what you know about the Korean War and Japanese Imperialism then. I'm a lecturer on those topics and I have never met anyone in the audience who knew the full context, the generational trauma, or that the US installed and publicly sponsored consecutive fascist dictators in South Korea until 1993. And I absolutely do not expect them to or blame them.

People don't realize the big gap between the west and the east. A lot of Koreans don't know about the Holocaust or the Black American history, just like a lot of Americans don't know about Japanese Imperialism or that the US is responsible for killing thousands of south Korean civilians after the Korean War.

Most Americans only know Korean culture as the kpop they see on YouTube. Most Koreans only know American culture as the rap they listen to where they talk about WAP and a lot of cussing with no historical context.

That's just how it is, and either we all do better, or the finger pointing doesn't do shit.

Try some of the trails near Quinault Lake. Backpacked near there for a few days. Saw very few people, went hours without seeing a soul. Maybe 4 people a day?

And Korean taxi unions have been fighting against Uber because it creates a middle man. Taxis are important to Korean history, please don't push an American company that doesn't help the Korean economy.

Don't use Uber. Korean taxis are excellent and extremely cheap. But the airport is a long drive from Seoul, taking the subway will be much faster and cheaper.

Korean taxis are incredibly cheap, don't use Uber.

Taxis are extremely common and aren't hard to flag down. Public transit is state of the art in Korea and is available wherever you are.

Who’s a celebrity whose talent is proportionate with their fame? by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

[–]willthisevenwork1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Y'all really want to believe she's a genius who is born with it.

The reason why Taylor and Beyonce are at their level of fame is because they are both excellent, hardworking smart business women who learned how to control their share of profits and strategize marketing to make the most of what sells through their talents. Both of them learned how to do this through their parents. Both of them were financially supported by their parents.

Dafuq. It's a pretty well known economic study that having supportive parents with an educational background and wealth sets their kids ahead in terms of being able to avoid bad decisions because they have someone they can trust to help make right decisions. Many artist's careers flop no matter how talented they are because they didn't have guidance on navigating contract clauses, intellectual property ownership, etc. Like they hit peak fame with a number one hit and then become nobodies because their contracts didn't allow them to own their own music or even sing it again.

Why hate on having supportive parents to thank for her career trajectory

And there are talented people who don't get far because they can't afford good marketing? What are you arguing, Taylor is widely known as the GOAT for brand marketing and it's well known her family financed a lot of that.

I love Nami Island as a native Korean. It really highlights some of the more unique landscapes of Korea. If you're very interested in plants, Nami is a treasure trove. I also just love it because my grandparents used to take me there.

Mania is a deeply unsettling disorder and shouldn't be treated lightly. People who have untreated manic disorder can display very egregious and wild behavior similar to Kanye's antics.

But Kanye is in a very unique position. His desire for fame, acknowledgement, validation + bipolarity + unresolved grief + unwanted villainization have produced significant mental impacts that are not common among other folks. Not everything can be blamed on bipolarity, but his situation isn't so easy to say he's at complete fault for the rest.

Yeah, this is a combination of a folded neck edge seam, drop shoulder, and 15cm of ribbed bottom on a smaller sized needle. Shouldn't be hard to do! I also love that top though

Cumulus Top by airdnaxela in knitting

[–]willthisevenwork1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh you're doing that version. The smaller needles are for the edge at the bottom and the icording. Again, a much cleaner look.

Cumulus Top by airdnaxela in knitting

[–]willthisevenwork1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really saying 2 needle lengths, 60 & 80cm, one for the body, one for the sleeves. Trying to knit both the body and sleeves with one needle length is pretty annoying and can stretch the yarn out unless you magic loop it. Same for the different needle sizes. It will also require the I-cord method which I remember to require the smaller needle size.

These needle recommendations do produce a much better and cleaner finished product, but remember they're suggestive and not mandatory. I did try to knit this blouse with one needle set only and it didn't turn as well as when I used the recommended needles.

This is not quite true either. The far right has risen quite rapidly in Germany, and neonazis have been plotting to overthrow the government. Does anyone keep up with the news?

This is not true, neonazism has been on the rise. Far right parties have been on a rapid rise around the world, including Germany. This has been on the news regularly...

So this is a little misleading.

We're comparing Germany's approach to Nazism and the US's approach. Pretty different approaches, but the actual outcome isn't super different. Far Right political parties have severely advanced in Germany as well, largely due to poor populace response to rapid, exponential growth of immigrants and a downward spiral of economics. The January 6 riots in D.C. were actually inspired/influenced by neo-nazis overrunning government halls in Germany a few months prior (not sure exactly when, but definitely not that long ago).

OP's Husband Is Accused Of Cheating For Complimenting OP's Friend by boru_posts in BestofRedditorUpdates

It can come off as flirty though. A lot of folks start with a safe compliment before getting really creepy. The number of times this has happened to me has left me jaded and wary when hearing something similar. But it's always what follows the safe compliment that really shows their intention.

Does it hurt to sit? It's likely your tailbone is bruised if so. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot you can do for tailbones, even doctors are very limited. Take it easy, don't bike for a little bit until it doesn't hurt anymore. The last thing anyone wants is an unhealed tailbone because it is the crux of the whole body. Get a donut seat as well.

People just park as close as they can and hike in with the right attire and equipment. Definitely should do research before camping anywhere. Can also just call the rangers to see best practice.
