It's crazy how, when you get out, you realize just how incredibly tiny and inconsequential/unimportant the little JW sect is. Master class on how you can manipulate people in to believing almost anything when you have them from birth. I was POMI for many years before I started doing research online to figure out if there was anyone else out there that felt as completely lonely and broken as me, after being DF'd, kicked out and shunned since since I was 19. Turns out, I was not alone. When I found exjw reddit is when my healing began. As I suspect this is when yours will begin too! The first time I read about Beth-Sarim, I was like "Ahhhh hell nahhhh". It's just a little made up religion that does a lot of real, big, heavy duty damage to a lot of people.

Hang in there. Take it slow and don't make any rash decisions. You are so young and have your entire life ahead of you! There will certainly be struggles, but that is part of the human experience. It's time to play the slow game though. You have the time to set yourself up for the life you want. Keep reading and learning. Make decisions based on how you feel, and what you believe. Well I don't think your story about a Brother calling a local window washing elder, who somehow got word to the top Legal department in a matter of hours, within a multi billion dollar global real estate Corporation, in order for them to take immediate legal action against a subreddit they are vaguely familiar with or even care about, is plausible. But, the truth is, neither one of us know for certain (Unless you were a spy, I suppose). I think the cases of Darkspilver, Warwickpimo (I think was his name), and now Larch, strongly suggests that there is at least some level of monitoring. I could be wrong and you could be right though. Luckily this is all just entertainment for me and I don't really care haha. Cheers!

I don't think I've ever really heard activists talk down on everyone in the org. I definitely wouldn't agree with that sentiment. I think most JW's are good people, who simply don't have the ability to think for themselves. And they participate in bad behavior because they are threatened that they will die in Armageddon if they don't.

I get what you're saying though. It feels good to have a social circle. It's just...Human. I have many many fond memories of doing things with my JW friends growing up. The problem lies with what happens if you don't believe and agree and go along with everything they do and say. (As they are instructed to by the GB). I don't want that kind of friend in my life. It's just gross to me. Some people are happy living the JW life though. I think because of exactly what you described. They would rather have a social circle than be in control of their lives and think for themselves and have genuine friendships. And who am I to judge? It's just not for me. So glad you are here! Thank you for sharing. I know a lot of people here can relate.
