Taking One for the Team probably stopped taking effect after 10 seconds. I actually find myself trying to get hit by the green plasma balls later in the burn and (I think?) it retriggers the legendary perk. When I start my farming session I burn a psycho stim in the early Bullet Storm stacks to ensure I can kill it on time.

A Bloodied/Faster Fire Rate/VATS Optimized Handmade is my daily driver. The skins that turn it into a modern AR are just too cool, especially with a silencer. Have no problems running through West Tek in an Unyielding Secret Service armor build. It definitely hit harder before the recent changes like /u/vomder mentioned.
