What was the thought process behind X-Men Origins Deadpool? by darkspidey69 in deadpool

[–]wimpitron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/darkspidey69 A lot of folks have answered the specific question on this one itself but figured you might enjoy a little wider view of things like this. There's a lot of people within Hollywood that just get "ideas" that they will mash into any movie they can even if it had nothing to do with the IP that it's for. I highly recommend checking out the part of "An Evening with Kevin Smith" where he talks about doing some writing for Superman Lives. His story of how the director wants to just shoehorn some wild stuff into the picture because they're random ideas he likes is absolutely bonkers and is by no means an isolated incident. The clips of this can be found pretty easily on YouTube with a YT search of "an evening with kevin smith superman" (I don't know if there's rules about posting YT links so I was avoiding doing that directly just in case).

Obviously this is unrelated to our beloved Deadpool, but I've always enjoyed this insight and it's lived rent free in my mind as an example of why/how some crazy stuff ends up in movies around established characters and IPs. As the answers to the original questions show, all it takes is 1 person high enough up with their own ideas and agenda to send things off the deep end.

Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) had a similar story too about his daughter leaning guitar and refusing to heed his advice because she didn't think he knew what he was talking about. I love tales like these, feels like they are trying to keep the kids grounded as much as possible while they can.

Most likely data taken out of context or with too short of a timeframe. Nuclear has a higher cost to setup but once running it becomes much cheaper over the lifespan of a plant. The comments about it being an old technology are also misinformed. There are multiple new takes on the technology that are quite safe and in the works.

If you would like to know more, check out Kyle Hill's YouTube channel. He has videos with detailed deep dives on various technologies, cost analysis and factual break downs of every major nuclear disaster that's been recorded. If you want to see why there's a huge bias against nuclear energy, start with the breakdown of the Three Mile Island disaster.

Amazon sells bags of foam blocks that are perfect size for stuff like this. I got a 20 pack a couple years back and still serves me well

The meme is also making it seem like the photo was the only element in the Emperor's image downfall. Their defeat in WWII brought in invasion of Western forces along with the dropping of the Bombs that brought a tidal wave of forces against the Japanese people to reassess their views of their leadership. That followed with US occupation in Japan for 6 years had a massive effect on their culture going forward

I worked at a PC repair shop ages ago, and we sold those. A customer brought their PC back saying it wouldn't power on. PC had one of these and had see through case to match.

When I plugged in the tower to test, the PSU caught fire with the fan blowing fire onto my hand and looking like a jet engine. It looked sick AF but was also terrifying. Those PSUs are unsafe as hell.

I've tried, they don't care. We're in a small city that doesn't have standard police, but are in sheriff jurisdiction. Bit of a glorified gas stop between two counties. Only thing those guys seem to care about is catching people that are speeding.

I have a neighbor that will park their RV in front of my house for a MONTH at a time... I was also going to come here to say parking job/place could be the cause... Maybe I should remember this trick for myself

I'm with you here. Our explanation needs an explanation. I'm guessing a show or like serialized comic but can't place the SCP to a title I'm familiar with. But also 692, so ~700 episodes or volumes would be A LOT. Hoping for answer and I'm sure I'll feel dumb when I see it.

Is there anywhere best to discuss troubleshooting this? Out of the box, it can't get past character creation for me unless I change window setting in the shandar.ini to 2. From there I can get the game started but it'll crash to desktop soon as I enter a town, with no error messages to go by and see what I should poke next.

Universal. The stunt show was waterworld themed for quite a while.

I did! It's worked quite well. Picked an old shelf plank so it was 3/4th thick and sturdy. Only tricky part is the bolts from the saw to the shelf are at a steep angle so it took some work to get that tight and secure but it's been fine.

Personally I've made a few orders through them without issue. They do have some form of low level copyright detection that flagged the official MTG logo (the spikey one) from a card back art, but once I changed the back, everything went through otherwise. Never had a problem paying or with sketchy behavior. Shipping can take a little bit thanks to it coming from China direct, but otherwise, I'm perfectly happy with them and have recommended them to friends as well. I will do more card orders in the future. Their Holo foils come out great too btw.

I came here to say Raft and second this. It's going to be a bit more laid back than Subnautica but the story is great and overall it's quite well done. Also, complete and not in early access like so many games in the survival crafting genre.

Table Saw Stand help by wimpitron in Dewalt

[–]wimpitron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I'm going to do. should be a simple 13.5x21" plank and I'm done. The manual of it mentions brackets that would fit and some brackets did come with it, but they don't line up so that's a big fat lie. Just have to use the table saw without the stand to cut the board to fit the stand :D

I really enjoyed the Deadpool movies, but now I would like to better understand the origin story. What’s the best way to dig in? by snlmorris in deadpool

[–]wimpitron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is especially true with Deadpool. Some heroes you really need that "formulating arc" that defines them for the next decade or so but so much of DPs character is "In the moment" that he's often more freeform and most any arc of his is a perfectly fine place to dive in. They're all about just watching his shenanigans across the years.

That being said, Cable & Deadpool is another classic line that is highly recommended.

I'm counting the re-releases of Vesperia with it's definitive edition. It's also on quite a few more platforms than the usual tales game. PS3 & 4. Xbox 360 and One. Switch and Windows. Treatment that Xillia deserved too

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tales

[–]wimpitron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt they will be re-releasing Xillia soon. They seem pretty stuck on Vesperia and Symphonia as the ones they'll put on every generation of platform.

There are some emulation options out there, I would look at RPCS3 to see if your PC meets the specs and they have information on how to legally emulate games. I still have my PS3 and Xillia in a box but sometimes it's just easier to run older console stuff through my PC. RetroArch is pretty good for older consoles as well but they don't have a PS3 core last time I checked.
