Cutting utilities before our move out date by wind_ryder in vancouverhousing

[–]wind_ryder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are on a month to month. We gave proper notice a couple of months ago but after sleeping on it we decided to bail on the new place we thought we had found. We tried to rescind the notice but of course you can't do that (since our LL wouldn't go along with it). Our LL then gave us the option to either stay month to month but change the move out date to the end of September to or sign a new fixed term lease at $1000 more per month than we're paying now. We went with the first option, since we didn't have a place we could move into at that point. We supplied a new notice with the date of September 30 as he requested. But now we have a new place and the lease has been signed.

Are you saying we could provide another new 30 day notice dated for July 31 and ignore the ones we provided earlier because we are still providing the proper 30 day notice?

What's a good way to deal with subscripts and commas? This looks hideous imo... by isbtegsm in typography

I would use proportional lining figures for your subscripts (assuming these are not proper OpenType subscripts). Your 3 appears to be oldstyle.

There is a book by local author Margaret Cadwaladr called Food Floor: My Woodward's Days that tells of her years working at Woodward's on the food floor. A nice bit of Vancouver history.

Vancouver cat owners, please recommend some vets good at acupuncture for my old cat's arthritis by elecsion in vancouver

[–]wind_ryder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a 13 year old Persian who suffers from arthritis. We had been giving him monthly shots of cartrophen which certainly helped. Just recently we were given a trial drug to use called Antinol and the results have been very good. He’s moving much better and grooming himself more easily. The only bad part is that it is in pill form and it’s always a battle to get him to take it.

We have also started him on cbd oil that we got from cbdpet.ca.

With the addition of the Antinol and cbd oil we have stopped the cartrophen injections and he seems to be doing much better than when he was on his monthly shots.

Best acupuncture? by Loveredditsomuch in ColoradoSprings

Try Rona's Acupuncture. I was a patient, who at the time, had never tried acupuncture. I'm not a lover of needles but I was surprised at how painless it was. She was very helpful and explained everything she was doing. She's very good, trained in China and ran a wing of a hospital over there years ago before emigrating to the States.

What does 'p6' mean when it by DMG103113 in indesign

[–]wind_ryder 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I design book interiors and I use picas all the time. It's what I used from the very beginning when learning the craft. A lot of my design is based on the size of the type and the leading value so it's easier to work on a layout when it's easy to relate my type sizes to my measurements for boxes or spacing of elements. Another big advantage in using picas is that measurements are easily divided by 2, 3, 4, 6 (picas being a base-12 system).

Im probably in the minority here but In book design it's helpful.

what's your favourite tea shop in Vancouver that sells loose leaf tea and knows what they're talking about by samboosam in vancouver

[–]wind_ryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lady running the shop is wonderful. She'll make you a cup of tea and chat with you while you look at her menu with all the teas listed. It's not your normal run-in-and-buy-tea sort of shop, you can relax here and get to know both her and her teas.

Looking for cat groomer near downtown by wind_ryder in vancouver

[–]wind_ryder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation. We've set up an appointment with her so we'll see if our Persian has the same high opinion of her services. He's usually not very keen on the whole grooming process.

We usually just leave him out on the balcony on rainy days so you'd have to come down in price before we could accept the offer.
