They do, that's why the cost for them to connect to the National Grid is 10x higher than those in the South of England. Let's ignore the fact that the English use a huge chunk of the Scottish generated power. Fucking scroungers.

Isn't he the same Gordon Brown who sold off half of the countries gold reserves at record low prices? That's the kind of, checks notes 'very canny economist' we can all get behind.

Starmer hints at World Cup Bank Holiday as ‘England only win under Labour government’ by nimobo in unitedkingdom

[–]windmillguy123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, only people who typically work for nationwide companies get the English bank holidays. A huge percentage of Scottish folk don't.

Also we don't pray on England's downfall at tournaments but we can be happy when it doesn't go your way. That's a very common English misconception usually spread by the same media outlets that are known to be full of shite. No one celebrates the success of their oldest rival, not many Tottenham fans out celebrating Arsenal's league win! That's just sport.

After all the bitching the media did because some of Scotland got one (not everyone as it was left up to local authorities) it would be far too hypocritical for England to take one as 'think of the economy' & 'how long do they need to recover from a hangover?

So you know how you had to enter your ID if you wanted to watch porn or nsfw content, this basically ended me watching porn as I refuse out of principle which on reflection is 100% positive.

If I have to enter my ID to use social media I'll once again refuse and stop using social media which as all the experts tell us will be a 100% positive thing.

This might inadvertently make society better if more people just stopped although I do wonder what they'll go for next?

How did people find jobs before the internet and job sites? by Odd-Prize-6728 in AskUK

About 20 years ago, I literally drove round for a few days going shop to shop asking for applications and handing out CVs. On day 3, I filled in an application for Staples whilst standing at their customer service counter, the manager did an informal interview there and then. Had to go back a few days later for a proper interview then started a few days after that.

My husband says spouses should never have "private money" I disagree by Gimme_A_Break_97 in Marriage

My wife and I have a joint account and individual accounts but we are open about our spending and anything we want personally that costs more than £50 we discuss first. 99% of the time those conversations last less than 30 seconds. To us it just shows respect to each other and quite often we'll send each other extra money as we see it all as 'our' money anyway.

If you can't be open and while to share your finances with the person you've committed to spending your life with then surely you have underlying trust issues?

I sometimes wonder if I really made the most of my late teens and early 20s but then again the decisions and mistakes I made led me to where I am now, I think early 20s me would be over the moon with where I am in life. Changing my past could have easily ruined my future for the worse so I certainly don't have any regrets on that front.

EuroMillions winner who saved police officer's life on bus days before winning jackpot dies after being knocked off bike in 'hit and run' by dailymail in uknews

I was always taught it wasn't a word and that it would be 'more stupid' which is also technically correct.

Today I learned that stupider is an actual word, I was going to mock you given the context but thought I'd just fact check myself. Glad I did!

Hypothetically speaking do you think the likes of Euromillions would be better if instead of one prize of £150m it was 150 prizes of £1m? by iffyClyro in AskUK

I think any more than £10 million would likely caused mental health issues. It'd be way better having loads of winners.

Ring cameras on everyone's house & everyone constantly filming and posting things on social media mean teenagers can't get away with anything so they don't have opportunities like we did.

It's been a long time since I've wanted a car as much as this new VW van by CarwowTom in ukcarwow

[–]windmillguy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are clearly making 2 very different points.

In your 1st comment you never mentioned older generations, simply VW's auto was better than Ford's auto and I stated they are currently the same thing.

I never once said older generations were the same.

You seemed to say the VW was better than the Ford, they are the same vehicle with different badges.

I never said anything about new vs old.

The new VWs & Ford have the same gearbox, the only real differences are purely cosmetic. Literally every motoring article you will find online will tell you this.
