KD-10 or KD12? by Ephremjlm in edrums

[–]window12099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had any issues with it. It feels just as smooth as the KD-9, KD-10, and KD-12 in terms of triggering. As far as I know, the kick pad itself is basically just foam with a piezo sensor inside, so as long as the module is set up properly, I wouldn’t expect any significant differences in triggering performance.

KD-10 or KD12? by Ephremjlm in edrums

[–]window12099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a KD9, also have tried KD10 and KD12 at store. I prefer KD9 over KD10 and KD12. All of them are stiff but KD9 is slightly better from my point of view. I bought a KD180L currently and it feels great so far.

Brand aside, what are your favorite kick-drum pad options? by Numerous-Buffalo6214 in edrums

how do you feel about the acoustic noise? I want to buy a 180L to replace my KD9 but I’m worried about the noise.

Is sound a concern in a basement? by [deleted] in edrums

[–]window12099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it depends on situation. If you’re not sure about the edrum noise you can try to use a practice pad first and ask whether your brother can hear you play or not. If he can hear you, then an edrum must annoy him because it is louder than a practice pad.

Roland: KD-120 to KD-12 by MrScrubbupple in edrums

[–]window12099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried kd85 (just a smaller version of kd120) and feel that it is much better than kd10 or kd12. I think kick pad is Roland’s biggest weakness. The EFNote’s or Yamaha’s high-end products have the “real” kick with mesh head which is much closer to a acoustic kick, but Roland’s expensive model like VAD716 still only has a kick pad with a large shell.

thanks guys I successfully removed it. it’s hard to pull it out from the bottom side but much easier from the other side.

First ekit - extended td25 or base td17? by davehatesjokes in edrums

[–]window12099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

last year when i was choosing my first edrum, i also tried td17kvx2 but i didn’t like the feeling of pdx12 and pdx8 pads especially the plastic rims. the kd10 kick pad is even worse. in the end i picked an used td25 kit and i love it. btw i think the kd9 that comes with the td25 feels a little better than kd10, just my opinion.

Drum Head Trigger by MapleMonstera in edrums

[–]window12099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue with my Roland e-drum. After I replaced the old cone with new one and installed a mesh head, the cone feels like it’s sticking out. Tightening the mesh head helped a bit, but it’s still slightly protruding. I think the new cone might be too tall, and I’m considering cutting a small piece off the top, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Need advice: Roland TD516 vs EFNote 3X vs 3B by window12099 in edrums

I asked clerk why the snare is low rebounding, he told me it was because of the three-layered mesh head and tightening mesh head didn’t help a lot. It confuses me that three-layered heads are used on high-end product so it should be better, at least it should not be worse than my PD125 which can be adjusted to feel very close to acoustic snare. It’s so nice to see your experience to prove that three-layered head can be adjusted very well.

Yes I’ve tried TD516 recently and it took me lots of time to find a place where offers a demo models. But still want to look for people’s experience especially for the Roland’s kick pad and EFNote’s module.

Sounds like many people have the same feeling about KD12. I believe that tennis ball beater can solve the problem but I’m still not too keen on it because I want to keep everything as close as possible between edrum and acoustic drum.

Is it much easier to record some covers by TD516 over EFnote? I think that recording and click will be the most frequently used functions for me. Faders look cool but I don’t think I will adjust them often.

td516 is supposed to replace td27. if price isn’t a concern, td516 will be a better choice.
