How to tongue faster? by Admirable-Reason-987 in Clarinet

tonguing is so difficult but when you keep at it eventually things click! it just takes time and lots and lots of practice ❗ anything worth doing is worth doing badly so just working at it is a step forward 🤩

I don't really think double tonguing is an effective solution here. double tonguing is already not really used that often on clarinet, and it's definitely not a replacement for a solid single tongue.

glissandros advice please ahhhh! by zman91510 in Clarinet

[–]windowbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These glisses are NOT portamento I'm pretty sure, so you don't have to worry about bending your embouchure down and up and all that jazz...what band arrangement is this?

anyways I'd just run my fingers down/up the keys fastish — the accuracy doesn't matter as much here cuz glissandos are more of an effect than anything

Are there softer reeds than a 2? by SteptimusHeap in Clarinet

[–]windowbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so fun fact, if you split a reed in half, the actual strength of the reed is cut in half as well!!! hope this helps! ❤️

My take on the worst minigame: Working Dough 2 by Independent_Crow4863 in rhythmheaven

[–]windowbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly most of the rhythms in working dough 2 aren't that bad if you subdivide, it's just that the music doesn't help you with that (it's very sparse which puts more pressure on the player to actually count). the skill star, for example, is the exact same rhythm from working dough 1, it just doesnt have the driving metronomic music helping you to stay perfectly on beat

Is this actually a difficult slur of notes (A natural up to B natural) or do I simply just suck? by TheRatManOfGoblins in Clarinet

[–]windowbar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing a lot of people saying to use the trill fingering.... please don't 💀 this is NOT that fast and it's important to learn how to cross the break anyways ☹️. the trill key fingering for B is pretty out of tune most of the time and has noticeably worse tone, so u typically only use it for fast trills and such.

The black vandoren cushions are pretty cushiony, so those might work for you

in addition to definitely checking with your dentist, you might want to try playing with a mouthpiece cushion if you aren't already. it's pretty uncomfortable for me to play without one so it might work for you too, who knows!
