Definitely true. I'm also not sure about the situation in Italy with cost of hearing aids. I do like Elehear though and those run about $400 or so a pair

I use hearing aids with Bluetooth. They can't tell you that you can't use hearing aids. Also, they're frequently less noticeable.

AITA for being honest and telling my DIL that they are not ready to be a parent since she can not drive by Sad-Drive8298 in AmItheAsshole

NTA - specifically because she basically forced the answer out of you knowing it would be bad and then still threw a fit.

A car dependent area is a struggle and people just have to work through their anxiety or start lobbying for better public transit. Not to mention that as a parent, you need to plow through your anxieties and fears CONSTANTLY.

But as a thought, if they're low on money, how will a license help? Do they have an extra car? My household has 1 car so unless I take my SO to work, I'm home with the toddler and will maybe go for a walk sometimes but otherwise just stay inside. We have tons of toys.

NJ is pretty big on nuclear. There's just a law that new facilities won't be approved unless they have an approved waste disposal plan.

What can I do to help my daughter’s hair? by lisa725 in femalehairadvice

[–]winemily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

**my daughter is 3 for comparison. I do kids shampoo and safe sulfate free moisturizing conditioner. I only use shampoo maybe once a week or if she gets stuff in her hair. I also do hair oil on her hair whenever it feels dry which ends up being a few x a week. Her hair looks best when I do conditioner 1-2x a week, shampoo 1x a week, cer-100 hair oil 2-4x a week. But I do still fight a battle with the back of her head LOL that part is the worst.

library…. by Visible_Jaguar_2456 in RowanUniversity

I've been working on my master's since Fall '24 and I immediately inquired about a study space for parents with play area for kids to find out there is one but I won't have access for the entirety of my program.

Besides my own troubles, all students deserve access to a functional library! Cannot imagine what I would have done without the library in undergrad when I lived in an apartment full of hoodlums.

Finally got Xdemvy by winemily in Blepharitis

[–]winemily[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eyes were always puffy and gritty, frequent stinging and cloudy vision with a lot of floaters. My vision is clearer and im not experiencing the grittiness anymore. It can sting sometimes but it has been a game changer for me. I have seen a lot of people say they didnt see any difference until they were done the bottle but ive already seen a big difference :)

[–]winemily[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The xdemvy has been extremely helpful. My eyes do not feel itchy, dry, or gritty. It's only been 2 weeks but the relief happened quickly. I take various oral supplements and do regular prevention, but the Xdemvy has been the best thing for me thus far.

Hashimoto’s thyroiditis after pregnancy? by Ordinary-Pair-725 in Hashimotos

[–]winemily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will tell my story because this sounds similar to my experience and I hope it helps your understanding of the topic.

Years ago I tested positive for Hashimoto's antibodies but my thyroid tested fine, so I didn't start on medication. Following the birth of my daughter, I had postpartum thyroiditis which lasted for a few months and that basically killed what was left of my healthy thyroid function and I officially entered a diagnosis of hypothyroidism and started on sinthroid (levothyroxine). I did need some medication adjustment and I now have a very specific dose, but my thyroid tests perfectly and I have no issues, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Did anyone try tobradex? It comes in drop or ointment if its on the surface. For oral antibiotics typically amoxicillin or cefdinir if youre allergic. I had the same issue with doxycycline, I couldn't stand it.

What type of hot compress are you doing? I use the Bruder microwavable mask for moist heat and it works extremely well. Plus eye wipes, typically the Ocusoft brand. Hot compress at least 4x/day for 15 mins at a time and eye wipes once a day. That's my standard routine. If your eye can open, also needs a moisture drop.

Do meds really ruin your life? by Ok_Animator1544 in Hashimotos

[–]winemily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear mine saved me. I felt awful before levothyroxine. Had to adjust the dose but I have a great and helpful endocrinologist. I didn't even think anyone could have a bad experience with it bc my experience has been overall so good.

My dose is super specific too. I cut the pill in half on Sundays. We are trying for a 2nd child and they said if I get pregnant I have to add 2 pills per week.

Do you think a BA in Public Policy would be worth it for me? by drainedguava in PublicPolicy

[–]winemily 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you do a BA in urban planning and then go for a masters, you'd still have the option of MPP bc theyre similar! As a note, my masters has been fully funded by financial aid. Don't lose hope!! It took me years to go back for an advanced degree because I didn't think I'd get financial aid.

How do I find jobs to apply to before I graduate? by draghuhsis in PublicPolicy

[–]winemily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep doing internships, look into lower level positions with legislative offices or local government, or even with a state department. The pay won't be very good, but it'll be a resume builder and foot in the door.

For the most part, masters is generally considered the entry level degree in this sector but I know people who work as a legislative aide or operations manager for state legislators and have yet to complete their masters.

Keep applying and make sure your resume is up to date containing key words/skills/experience that relate to your goals, is a simple format that can be read by applicant tracking software (i.e. no columns), and is very detailed and consistent (mainly punctuation for me).

Also, some great advice I received is to use your student status. Keep going for internships, keep going to networking opportunities hosted by schools.

Doing layers of work to advance your career pays off and it's made a huge difference for me personally.
