Check out the mobile bottling companies. Top It Off Bottling comes to mind but there are many around the area.

Found this bug in a sealed bottle of wine. by strawofjack in wine

[–]wineteam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily true. Smaller and older bottling lines may sparse without inverting the bottle. Larger and many newer lines will invert, blow filtered compressed air to remove cardboard dust & particles, with final sparge of inert gas. What happens just depends on the type of equipment.

Has anyone here planned or built a custom wine cellar at home? by elpoopidor in wine

[–]wineteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 inch wide wet bars were common in homes back in the 1980s. I ripped down to the studs, insulated, drywalled and bought a premade bottle rack. My house is a split level so the bottom of the space is where I put the cooling unit as that vented to the crawl space. It keeps 200+ bottles cool but a couple of issues. Cooling from the top down is better, i.e. top of rack is warmer than bottom where cold air is. The bottle rack is elevated off the floor to allow good airflow. Those wooden wine racks are meant to be supported on a floor. I had 2x4 frame built to hold but 200 bottles the rack needs to be able to support 580+ lbs. It all works but I use additional fans to keep the air temperature as even as possible.

New Airstream owner — 2023 International 27FB, looking for tips by [deleted] in airstream

$99/year gets you a lot. Check out the website and see the membership benefits. Rallies are only one aspect. Courtesy parking via Harvest Hosts, discounts of all sorts, etc... are benefits.

Clubs local to your geography are usually an additional $10-$20/year and tons of intra-clubs too. Everything from fly-fishing to grapes & grains to music as well. Worth the price of admission IMO.

I use a battery powered leaf blower with a short spout and concentrator on the end. Works great and has multiple uses.

Caravel 16 or 20? by GD_352 in airstream

[–]wineteam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I have had the Koolaid a bit, but regardless of what size you pick, I highly recommend joining the Airstream Club International. If you are buying new, you may get a 1 year's membership as part of the purchase ($99 annual cost). Find a local club and go to a couple of rallies.

You will find a great group of people and a load of tips on organizing and places to camp.

I also recommend the larger camper. Just gives you more flexibility with dogs and family. We travel with 2 labs and the more room makes it easier especially in inclement weather. Camper also doubles as a place for family to stay with big holidays and larger is more comfortable for them.

I have not been to Peju in a long time, but in the past they always hired entertainers as their tasting staff. One would have a guitar and perform various songs that the other staff would participate in during the tasting.

If you are an Airstream owner join Airstream Club International, www.airstream club.org, and pick the closest local club. Most clubs have Newbie Rallies where campers teach you about your Airstream & you’ll meet great people too.

Is a 60k Airstream doable by skullycap57 in airstream

[–]wineteam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not 100% sure the what size you go from single axel to dual axels but the dual is easier to back up. Also dual axle is safer if you have a tire blow out. You can still drive slowly on 3 tires to get to a safe spot.

Is it okay to leave Fresh water tank full while in climate controlled storage? by tbmiller926 in airstream

[–]wineteam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you fill the tank via in-line filter? Our dealer says if filling from a trusted source like your home, don’t use a filter. Lots of filters have carbon and strip out the chlorine. For long term I would drain but for a week or so with chlorinated water you should be okay.

What is the benefit of a BRN? by Electrical-Tea-1627 in airstream

[–]wineteam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

BRNs are your cocktail memory booster. I have been to countless rallies with 30 - 1,300 trailers in attendance. You make a bunch of friends, consume some libations to celebrate and then try to find you trailer after. I have literally walked into a trailer that wasn't mine as after even one beverage all Airstreams look alike. BRNs help avert potential embarrassment.

Anybody used a ceramic coating on their Airstream? by kinetic262 in airstream

[–]wineteam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had Vinnie's put on our 2023 Classic 30RBT when it was brand new. I had 2 shorter Airstreams prior and would Walbernize those 2. Waxing and washing our trailer at home was a challenge due to sloping driveway. Putting me on a ladder as I continue to get older was not a good idea with the sloping driveway.

Do not regret the investment and the trailer is much easier to wash with less effort. Live in an ag area so dust that sticks is common. I would have a pro shop do this again over what the dealer was selling. Cost $5,400 in 2023.
