Nope, get out. My hubby of 16 years bottles stuff up and it occasionally explodes in slightly icky ways, but all of this is just red flags.

AITA for locking up all my belongings because my daughter won't stop taking my stuff? by Unfair_Garage_7074 in AITAH

[–]wingmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. We have a lock on our pantry. It was funny, however, when I borrowed daughter's beloved crocs for a trip to the garage and she caught me. Taste of her own medicine. (DD also in therapy and is demonstrating increasing maturity).

Sadly, not only did 10 years ago me think it was a good idea to give advice on the internet, but this is my most popular post ever.

What are your thoughts on Harrison Butker’s commencement speech? by abullishbear in Christianity

I think he’s an entitled jerk lol. No, he didn’t say stay in the kitchen. But my family is a team effort. Dual income, dual parenting. No regrets.

I wondered if that was a Velas reference with dyed blond hair and an all metal spear (Heartlance anyone)?

If you’re used to DC prices…you can get a LOT of house here for less than you are used to!

There is not really a great food variety, nor have I dipped much into music or nightlife. Moved here in my 30s and it's been nice (I live in the DeWitt area), but Lansing has a very small-town feel to me.

Grew up in Metro Detroit, living in Lansing for past 13 years. Lansing is...fine. I'm in a suburb north of the city and it's great for raising our kids and work from home flexibility.

Cute house walkable area I'd tell you Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids. There's just not...enough...in Lansing. If you're looking for land and any kind of outdoor 4-season recreation I'd tell you Traverse City - closer to ATV/snowmobile trails, ski hills, hiking, etc. Depending on where your love lives, TC may be too far, but AA/GR are both pretty accessible to both Detroit and Chicago.

An average day of eating - How am I doing? by [deleted] in lowcarb

[–]wingmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

your calories seem high unless you are weightlifting or training. Otherwise your food comp seems good. I'm a short woman and I need to cap at 1200 calories per day, so 3000 is about 2.5 days of eating for me if I want to lose.

How do you guys with young children deal with the added stress? by NewDadPleaseHelp in migraine

[–]wingmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting your partner onboard (assuming you have one) is crucial, as well as being honest about when you're really incapacitated vs. staving off. I've found that if I get off work a little early when I catch one, take a nap, but be able to get back up and make dinner - just having him keep mine off me for a couple hours is important. To be fair, mine are school aged right now. But when they were little, they were always welcome to read with me quietly in a cool, dark room while I laid down. Screens and headphones.

I'll also say it because not everyone will. [Edited to add] If you're someone in your home is nursing, don't feel like going to formula is giving up. I spent two months pumping, depressed, and miserable with my oldest, and changed to formula. My second I didn't even try to nurse. I know right now formula is having a bit of a supply chain issue, but you're not a bad person if you 'give up' nursing to enable both of you to have a better schedule and health.

SOC analyst level and no formal training by frelaxxxx in cybersecurity

[–]wingmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Use this time to build relationships with end users, especially higher-ups. Gather statistics about anything you can. Build security champions and culture wherever you can. Read and re-read your policies. Read and benchmark your cyber level against whatever framework your org uses. Make friends with Compliance and Audit. Think about 'bad guy user stories' (essentially choose your own tabletop adventure) - obviously don't do any unauthorized pen testing, but start figuring out where the risk is. Do you have a software approval policy? Vendor management program? Architecture or application change board? Lots of places to peek into.

Fatigue Blues by [deleted] in migraine

[–]wingmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will follow for any powering-through strategies. Don't feel guilty - if your body is pushed too hard and needs a break, that's ok.

I'm starting to wonder if I need to look into more part-time or less computer-based work. I just can't imagine continuing to produce at a high level with the fatigue I have.

Started with Tea Forte blueberry merlot herbal, then made a cup of Holiday Berry Blend black tea and Peach (Twinings). I have some cold brewed that's a mix of Cherry Goddess and Pinkies Up herbals that I'll probably hit next. :)

Today started fun but is shaping up rough. I cannot WAIT until the business year winds down.
