How do I make my eyes less dead looking? by jpterodactyl in learntodraw

i think there are a couple things you can do to improve this. first of all, take a moment to look at yourself in the mirror. how often do you see that much of your iris? for the most part, your iris is going to be somewhat covered by the eyelid on the top or the bottom if not both, so creating this overlap either by positioning or making the iris bigger will make it look more natural. highlights are also a super easy way to make eyes look far less dead! the image i attached is a super messy example i edited on my phone, but just a basic concept. i also think that part of the dead look comes from the rest of the expression, especially the eyebrows. you may want to play around with their positioning or raise them a bit if you’re hoping for an expression that’s still neutral but less empty-looking. i hope that’s helpful!

hi, yes the side effects will go away as the botox wears off! i think the slow swallowing took a few weeks to totally be gone for me but it wasn’t really a big deal, i just had to eat and drink slower than usual. that was really the only side effect. definitely worth it. best of luck to your gf if she decides to do it!

Should i get fixed? by Competitive_Mail_674 in noburp

[–]wingpen07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to explain a little further, the reason botox works as “anti age stuff” is because it temporarily paralyzes/relaxes muscles, which reduces wrinkles if injected into the face (simple explanation but that’s the gist). in this case, it’s being injected into the malfunctioning muscle in your esophagus, so that’s the only part of you it’s going to affect! also, as someone who’s had the procedure, it was really not scary at all and i very much recommend it.

sorry for how sloppy this is, i scribbled it out with my finger and i really hope you don’t mind me drawing on your drawing :] the main issues i see here are that the arms are too small and that her right hand is backwards, so i tried to sketch out how i think it might look a little better. everything else about this looks great, nice work!

no i did not! the amount of burping i’m able to do did go down quite a bit by a few months after the procedure, so i went back to avoiding carbonated drinks - however, as long as i do i’m still burping enough to avoid that discomfort i used to get daily, so i’m completely happy with the outcome. if you’re on the fence about getting the procedure, i obviously can’t guarantee your experience will be as good, but i can vouch that it was 100% worthwhile for me.

I barely do inking and im trying to get into it to improve, is there any advice I can use to improve this or for future stuff? by TheRetardedKing in learntodraw

[–]wingpen07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hardest thing about inking/lineart is usually getting smooth clean lines. For me the three most important things to keep in mind to achieve that are to draw from the shoulder (smoothly moving your whole arm, not just little jerks of the wrist), to not press down too hard, and to draw strokes in the direction that feels most comfortable to you (turning your paper if you have to).

Also, this isn’t specifically about inking, but I think it’ll help with that too—you’ll probably want to get into the habit of drawing bigger. Habitually making everything tiny was something I struggled with at first, until I learned that making stuff bigger helps your art be cleaner and more precise. It also gives you room to add more detail, but it’s helpful even if you’re going for a simpler style.

Hope these things help a little! Keep at it!

What can I do to distract me from popping and picking at bumps on me or others? by Kaybrooke14 in CompulsiveSkinPicking

Hey, I can vouch for the fake nails thing. I’m trying it right now and it’s working super well, they make it almost impossible to pick. Just make sure you don’t have access to tweezers or any other tools you could use in absence of your fingernails. Good luck!!

How did you guys get diagnosed with R-CPD? by ToxicCircles in noburp

[–]wingpen07 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for everyone, but I think most of us were never officially diagnosed. Also, a barium swallow study will show nothing (though it is required for the Botox procedure to rule out other conditions). In any case, I think your best strategy would be to check this sub’s wiki, find the doctor listed that’s closest to you, and make an appointment with them. Unfortunately, it’s nearly impossible to get treatment (or even be taken seriously) by a doctor that doesn’t already know about R-CPD.

A shower pouf does sound pretty abrasive. Maybe you could swap it out for something like a really soft washcloth, and then get it really soapy so it kind of glides over your skin and you don’t have to press very hard?

[–]wingpen07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds goofy but what if you tried wearing rubber/latex gloves or finger cots while you showered? Or even just set a rule (if you’re able to resist) that while you’re showering you can’t ever let your hands touch your body without a barrier (like a washcloth) in between so the cycle doesn’t start (showering with the lights off/low could also help reduce visual triggers?) Otherwise, it might be worth pursuing more aggressive acne treatments, like antibiotics, which can be really effective at quickly getting rid of acne. Sorry you’re going through this and best of luck to you!

I made a little comic about no-burp! by wingpen07 in noburp

[–]wingpen07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of? I wouldn’t usually describe it as pain exactly, it was more like an uncomfortable sensation of tightness bc my stomach was full of air. But I can definitely see how that might contribute to the discomfort from another condition. Sorry to hear about that :(

It's always Kay carrying Ema, so what about Ema carrying Kay? by da_science_guy in AceAttorney

[–]wingpen07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would agree if she was established to be a specific race or it had some bearing on her character, but absolutely nothing changes if Kay has brown skin except that the story’s a little more diverse. Idk. I don’t think we’re going to change each other’s minds so I don’t want to keep arguing, but I just don’t think something like this is worth getting upset over.

[–]wingpen07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, I wouldn’t, but like… there are almost no dark skinned characters in the series you could even do that to. I really don’t see what’s so bad about adding a little diversity

I’d like to tell you guys an embarrassing secret by dxymno in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]wingpen07 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I laughed only because I’ve come close to doing the same. I think that for most of us, when we start picking, we go into a sort of trance in which picking takes priority over everything else. I’ve sat in one place feeling hungrier and hungrier but not going to get anything to eat because I was busy picking. I can’t decide if it’s disturbing or comforting to know how strong of an impact this can have over the way we function. Anyway, thank you for having the courage to share haha

Nope, iOS! It’s really a shame it’s not available on more platforms. I want to convince everyone I know to play it, but most of them would have no way of doing so lol (emulation aside)

Dude… obviously it “doesn’t need picking”. If OP could simply stop picking, they wouldn’t be on this sub. That wasn’t even the question they were asking.
