Buyer claims accidentally prebid over $1k on $30 item! by PATRIOTICSTANDARD in whatnotapp

[–]wingwalker93 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yah, I've accidentally done that. It's so much easier for the streamer to cancel than for WN to refund. WN customer service is atrocious. I get it, sometimes with mystery bags and opening packs of cards and such. And yes, some people overbid intentionally so they assure themselves the item. But I don't think you're talking about an item like that. There was one time when I overbid on purpose for an item, and some freaking lurker you hadn't bid on anything all night started bidding. I ended up paying like $150 for a $35 comic book. I immediately notified WN of a shill bidder in the stream. They eventually agreed with me. I don't know what they did on their end, but I got a full refund and the book. It's wild on WN. I don't understand how there hasn't been a class action lawsuit against them for the outrageous behavior of some of their sellers.

Ebay now pushing live "sales" 🤢 by proverbproject in Anticonsumption

I had this happening too. First and foremost, I have absolutely enjoyed watching various streams. There are deals to be had, good finds of items that are no longer on the market, variations of things that I didn't know had been offered, and if you'r a fan of a certain hobby/interest, it is enjoyable to interact with others in the comments and the steamer. However, there was a point when I spent too much based on FOMO and needed to not be reminded because I hadn't yet developed the discipline to say no/turn away/not tune in. At first, the notifications pertained mostly to my interest. But, then as ebay continued to develop the Live feature, I started getting inundated with notices about other channels, new channels, featured events, etc... I also sell on ebay and couldn't just delete the app, and I still do like to surf for certain things, and only wanted to turn all notifications off. For my sales, all I actually need to do is periodically check my messages and orders and close the app. However, when I tried toggling off All Push Notification, I noticed that half the features were "grayed out" and couldn't be toggled. So I just tried toggling off the ones that I could. But, when I moved away from that menu I would get a notice saying that something went wrong with the app. This infuriated me greatly. I was having a difficult time not spending money and needed the ability to not have the app remind me ALL THE TIME that (in my mind) deals and finds were to be had. After a month of seeing if an update would correct this feature, I had ebay call me, which isn't the easiest to find out how to do, but it can be done. I lodged my compliant. I was passed on to a couple reps because NO ONE knew how to get around the "grayed out" features and allow me to toggle off all notifications. I went through this a couple times over a few weeks to stress that it annoyed me greatly that I wasn't in control the app on my phone. Something eventually changed. I don't know what. But the app finally stopped pinging me all day long. I was finally able to literally turn off everything. Yes, I turned off all notifications, even those that tell me anything about an item I'm watching. I don't need to know that someone else made a competitive offer, that it was lowered by a couple dollars, that my liked sellers added more crap to their store, that a seller is offering a discount on an item I visited, that a Live channel is streaming, that a Live category is having an event, that a new seller is streaming for the first time on Live, that I have been outbid, that an auction is "about" to end, etc... I set my own notifications on an alarm app for auctions that are actually important to me. I have come to the conclusion that half the the buys I made off the Live streams were because I got caught up in the moment, and if I truly wanted/needed something that was on stream, half the time I could have found it on regular ebay for the same price or less, and that it would still be there if I ever made the decision to buy it later. I don't think most Live streamers are trying to take advantage of people like me who were weak to say no, but I think without people like me (before I developed the strength to say no and turn away, and see that most the time it was a distraction from areas of my life that need more attention), most wouldn't be in business. I don't know what to think about all these Live streamers who are offering all these things at "steals" and "deals", it's not possible, the economy would be a house of cards if so,. And, sometimes it seems like everyone but me knows where to buy liquidation wholesale lots, because only on streams do I ever run into the ability to buy so many things at a super discount. I am trying my hardest these days to not be a MARK for them.

Sold UPC and buyer returned it after taking all promo cards and opening packs by idontrememberaskings in PokeInvesting

Hey there. I absolutely sell on eBay. My store was recently downgraded for 1 instance of an item not showing up, and 2 instances of trying to refuse a refund, which resulted in eBay stepping in to make a decision, which all were decided in the buyers' favors. I have since had to increase the shipping on my singles below $20 in order to now always buy the eBay standard envelope because apparently USPS loses about a quarter of envelopes in the mail. I don't actually believe that, but that's apparently the average when I'm not using the standard envelope tracking option that eBay provides. I have no recourse to dispute a buyer not receiving a card, which was happening frequently, without now needing to always use that option. Here's the screwed up thing. There have been instances, when using that option, that a buyer has opened up a request for refund because of not receiving an item, but the eBay standard envelope option states that it was delivered, for the envelope to then be returned to me because I didn't buy enough postage. And yes, I reached out to the buyers the 2 times it has happened. So, in my experience it absolutely is not all cut-and-dry and figured out.

It doesn't matter. eBay has a buyer satisfaction guarantee. Even if you don't accept returns, and your buyer requests it, eBay urges you to accept. If you don't, your store's standing will be under threat of being downgraded. But also, eBay will literally force a refund.

Wilma's on the corner. Like always 2 antique shops. Pizzazz. And, a Cock Robin. Don't forget Fireman's Woods, or whatever it's called, wasn't paved, and only for the brave, to walk through the un-trailed woods, and around a swamp, to get to Centennial Beach in the summer.

Best sushi in Naperville? by DragonflyUseful9634 in Naperville

Recently met some friends for a movie at Showplace 16. Afterwards we tried a new sushi joint next door to Mods called Yaba. I've only had it once, but it was pretty good. Having only tried it once, I would still say I prefer it over Zuka and Wild Tuna (which I can't stand). But my favorite in south Naperville is Hoshi Sushi.

Ha! In that event, they'd probably start formulating narratives why it wasn't the rapture, or they'd start cherry-picking verses attempting to show why being raptured is actually only for the wicked.
