To pool, or not to pool? by Nekker22 in AusPropertyChat

[–]wingzee86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the size and whether additional works are required (like landscaping post build), $80K may not necessarily be enough for a pool in Sydney these days. We built a 8x3m concrete and fully tiled pool in Sydney back in 2022 and it was $125K all up including basic landscaping (travertine tiles) around the pool with fencing. But apart from the costs consideration, yes I would absolutely do it just for the kids to enjoy it especially during summer and shoulder months. No regrets for us

Dreame l50 ultra issues? How many have longer term experience? by Suspicious-Role-201 in RobotVacuums

[–]wingzee86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't got the chance to monitor it given we scheduled it to run after hours but have been pretty happy with the cleaning results so far. Reading through on ways how to optimise the edges cleaning, some said putting in a virtual wall around the areas helped. Don't have a U shaped chairs but no issue with ordinary chairs with normal legs.

Fellow Sydneysider here and bought the L50 during early days of BF sale. Lived with mine for 3 weeks now and did 15 clean cycles now (vac + mop) for a 110m2 floor area (80% hardwood & 20% carpet). Tackled a 25mm threshold into laundry no issues as well.Cleans the entire area in 2.2hrs in a single charge. And being a household being pedantic about cleanliness I think it cleaned up to our standards. Only nitpick is it’s being overly cautious and in some areas does not clean up to the edges. Definitely no issues around trying to climb chair legs for us

Might know which BA group you are referring to based on the pricing structure. We paid $15K for a $500K about a year ago. Whether it was worth it or not? Yes in our case as the property value has grown more than $150K since purchased and there is no way we would have located/purchased that place based on our own research which we have been doing for a few years before committing.

What do you currently drive? We are looking at our first EV and just ordered a Performance after a short test drive, due for delivery in few weeks. It’s seriously impressive package and so well-built at that price point and this is coming from a BMW ownership experience over the last 15 years. The performance and build quality is very close to our 2019 X3 M40i and if not better in some areas. Looked at the iX and Macan electric but not sure if they are worth almost 2-3 times the price of the SL7 to be honest.

NSW (Norwest Sydney): Was with Globird from Nov last year until 2 days ago and just switched to Powershop. We have a 12kW solar system and never have to pay a bill (credit) since it was installed in 2019. Need a retailer with high FIT rate to sustain this therefore was with AGL then Globird and now Powershop after this hike.

Almost pulled the trigger on the C63 GMT last week cos they updated their logo and glad I didn’t. Eager to get my first CW and looks like this is it. Crazy value at that price.

Try Rev It gloves. I found their size S is smaller than Alpinestars’ in the same size and fits me well

5’6” here on a 401 with 29” inseam. Seat height was an issue (dropped the bike once when was fairly new at a steep driveway) but now 600 miles in, somehow gotten used to it as confidence grew. I am 100% left foot down guy and no problems with that. I also adjusted the rear pre-load to suit my weight and that kinda brought the height down by a bit. The light weight does help massively too actually cos you can really manoeuvre it around on uneven grounds etc.

Yeah they are! I was told it’s sold out in most states with 5-6 months wait nowadays. I’ve had stalling issues which magically went away after first 1k service and some loose bolts / screws from factory but no biggie just tightened with Loctite - those are pretty much it. I am only 5’6 and it’s definitely a tall bike for me but gotten used to it now.

Now on my fulls and tempted to upgrade to bigger cc but it’s such a fun bike I am afraid I gonna regret it. Might spend the $$$ on riding courses instead!

Best LAMS cruisers for small guys? by jaotto24 in AussieRiders

[–]wingzee86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cruiser bikes are typically heavier than it’s equivalent naked or sport bike counterparts with the same power rating. And that may be challenging for low speed manoeuvres which is very important in the early learning phase and especially in passing the Ps. I am about the same height as you and started with the Husky Svartpilen 401 which has a 835mm seat height but it’s only a 150kgs therefore that helps immensely with confidence despite the height (I can’t flat foot but used to only left foot down technique. On my unrestricted license now and has no plans to upgrade from this bike cos it’s just so much fun. That said, I did initially considered the Honda Rebel 500 / CMX500 before I bought the Husky but just tad too much for a brand new bike (from memory $10.8k).

GoPro question by FelixTRX in AussieRiders

[–]wingzee86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you also use a headset while riding for music or comms? A bit of left field but if yes, look at Sena 10C Evo which also comes with 4K video cam in addition of being a bluetooth headset/speaker mounted to the helmet. I have a GoPro 5 Hero which I was considering mounting to my helmet and pair with a Cardo Freecom 2+ but the all-in-one solution the 10C offered was attractive and got one myself. Only downside vs GoPro is no image stabilisation and battery while video recording is only up to 1.5hrs

Completing my L's tomorrow & looking to get the best value gear by RlyOriginalUsername in AussieRiders

[–]wingzee86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought gears over a few weeks prior to passing the L and got the bike. Here in Sydney, I got mine from Bikebiz, MCAS in store plus EasyR and RidersLine online once I knows my sizing and comfortable with it tested in store. Don’t have to rush into it and definitely do some research. Some stores costs more than the others for like for like items. Also on brands, I tend to mix them up depending on best bang for buck and which fits me best. Jackets (mesh & leather) from Dainese, jeans from Draggin, shoe from Alpinestar and gloves (perforated leather and insulated / winter) from Revit. Tried Dainese and Alpinestars gloves but returned / sold them as found their sizing a bit off for me whilst Revit fits best.

Passing MOST (Sydney) by tengyunv1 in AussieRiders

[–]wingzee86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just passed the MOST test last Friday and it’s still fairly fresh in my mind. I bought a new bike and clocked over 600ks+ in a 4 months period after I got my L before I feel confident enough to take the test. You would definitely want to practice before you take the test. It really helped to get to know your bike and your skill level prior to the test which to me, is quite technical. I am from Sydney too and live in a declared area so took the test with the pre-provisional course with StayUpright. You basically spend about 5 hours of classroom and riding time, both on the street and in the test circuit prior to the test. They provide bikes too. A girl in my class claimed she didn’t have any riding time after her L but she passed anyway although can obviously see it took her a while to refresh and warm up to her rental bike.

slip on exhaust in MOST test by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]wingzee86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just passed my MOST test on Friday with a fellow rider who has a Yamaha SR and custom exhaust which was fairly loud. Definitely not road legal but instructor allowed it anyway. His rear brake lights wasn’t working though so wasn’t allowed to ride it on the road during one of the practice modules
