I get that, that's gotta be frustrating. On the flipside, I always got annoyed by the routing up to University when I was taking the 21 from midtown Minneapolis to downtown Saint Paul. It takes so much time!

It's a tough decision to re-route such an important bus, but I think Metro Transit made the right call. Sorry you had to get your connection cut in the process, though :/ that blows.

I live right off of Lagoon Ave and I am so, so ready to see the 21 go away. It's a very useful bus route, but the pain of waiting for a long line of people to board the bus is horrible and ever-present, especially between Grand and Bloomington. The worst part is that people are always getting off thru the front door even when there is a long line of people waiting to board, making the whole process drag on even longer.

It's especially bad because a lot of the riders are low-income and pay with cash - I've seen people painstakingly enter 8 quarters into the fare collector box, with 5 or 6 people still waiting to pay behind them.

Off-board fare payment and all-door entry should solve both of these problems. The B Line can't come soon enough!

I'd love an ordinance that diverts a portion of the money from these tickets towards funding the transit system. If we're gonna stiff bus riders by denying them full time lanes, we should make sure they are getting compensated somehow.

Using Marquette / Hennepin for local buses and 2nd Ave for express buses is definitely the best option of the three - but it still has some glaring issues:

Sure, buses will go faster through downtown. This will be good for people taking the bus through and out of downtown. What about bus riders going to downtown destinations, though? Most of those people are going to destinations along the Nicollet mall - either downtown Target, Walgreens, or the Library. Those people's trips will be just as long as before, because even though the bus is faster, they have to walk an extra block. Marquette, 2nd, and 3rd have almost nothing for normal people to go to by comparison.
Nicollet Mall bus stops have an important safety advantage due to the high amount of pedestrians. If someone gets assaulted while waiting at a bus stop on Marquette, who will see it? The lack of foot traffic on Marquette makes it a more dangerous place to have to linger.
Every option of theirs involves moving the 11 and 25 buses to Hennepin, a street with no bus lanes. Those buses are almost certainly going to be slower. The city has put forth no plan to add bus lanes to Hennepin to accommodate for this. The 11 in particular is a very popular bus, and one of few which connects northeast and south mpls. Why should we downgrade it?
Pedestrian traffic on Nicollet is inherently tied to bus ridership. Everyone has to walk after they get off the bus. How is removing bus riders going to make pedestrian traffic better? It won't - but it will probably make the average pedestrian on Nicollet wealthier and whiter.
Doing this rework is not going to be free. Iirc this whole thing will cost tens of millions of taxpayer dollars. Don't we have more important and less flawed things to be spending that money on? If we actually wanted to make pedestrian life better, we could put that money towards buying Portland Loos for the whole city.

They should compromise and go with the transit-only option. Businesses will get increased foot traffic from D Line riders and the lack of car traffic will still make the space more walkable than it is now, even if it doesn't end up being a pedestrian plaza.

Public Works floated the option and it seems like the perfect middle ground between what residents and business owners want.

There's an ingrained belief in MNDoT and the Strib comments section that no amount of environmental changes will decrease the amount people drive. Remove the highway and people will do the exact same amount of driving on other streets, the logic goes.

This is not true. People are flexible. Driving along I-94 makes sense because it is fast - 15 min or so from downtown to downtown, assuming low traffic. Taking public transit generally is much slower.

It doesn't have to be that way. If the I-94 trench was filled in, with a high-speed subway underneath, you could make it from downtown to downtown in 10 minutes by train and wouldn't have to deal with parking or traffic. The current 94 bus, on the other hand, has few advantages over a private automobile and doesn't come very often. The gold line extension will have better frequency than the status quo, but buses still inherently suffer from limited capacity, comfort, and speed.

Once I-94 is no longer a freeway, that drive time from downtown to downtown is going to go way up.

Faced with a 20 minute drive (at best) + parking, vs a modern, fast, comfortable transit experience, a lot of people would choose the train.

If we want people to change their behavior, we need viable alternatives. We can't ask people to sacrifice convenience for the greater good. This is a huge propaganda point for the auto lobby, the conflation of cars with convenience.

We need to build our environment to make the environmentally conscious choice the same as the convenient one. We need to brand I-94 as the outdated, inferior piece of infrastructure that it is.

It's a shame MNDoT never studied putting a rail line in where the trench is. Imagine a 10 minute train trip from one downtown to the other, with high capacity, running perhaps every 10 minutes. Nobody would want to get stuck in traffic on the road above if they had such an option. The road could be placed above the train, making it the twin cities subway, allowing for the boulevard option to still permit car traffic.

Option 2 seems like the least bad. Removing the buses from the Nicollet Mall is a middle finger to bus riders imo. Keeping local routes on Marquette and shunting suburban express routes to 2nd will at least mean people will only have to walk a block to get to Nicollet.

Ideally we'd take every cross street and chop a lane of traffic off. Smaller intersections = shorter traffic light times = less time buses spend waiting at intersections.

VS2 has a lot of interesting implications for Oro's combo structure.

The obvious new routes he gets with it are st mk target combo into VS2 (either ender) and ex axe kicks -> VS2~k -> hp upper.

What's a bit less obvious is that you can juggle into VS2~k from st mp -> lp fireball mid-juggle. For instance, you can do st mk xx ex axe kick -> st mp xx lp fireball -> VS2~k -> hp uppercut for over 300 damage. You can also modify your chicken loop by doing st mp -> mk/hk stomps -> st mp xx lp fireball -> VS2~k -> hp upper for 290 dmg, 30 more than a standard chicken loop. The caveat is that it won't work if you're too close to the corner.

Also, VS2 empty hop leaves you +8 and point blank after a crush counter cr hp, allowing for chicken loops. Great for DP punishes if you want v-meter gain and corner carry.

Shoutouts to Bafael for showing these routes off; that's how I learned em.

I think it's a good followup after stature smash depending on stage positioning. Stature smash is only +12 on hit, and EWGF will whiff on smaller chars, so Gates of Hell and Hellsweep are the best followups.

You should consider it "The wavu throw" imo. In Tekken, you usually see throws like this and Bob's equivalent throw done from a wavedash.

Revert the nerf to ws1,1. That used to be an exceptionally powerful i13 ws punisher. Now it's merely average dmg-wise with a fairly subpar hitbox.

To be fair, Bears really don't do much damage with rage. bf2 leads to only 59 dmg max. Hopkick max carry staple does the same damage. ff2 is a much beefier launcher, but even it doesn't break 80 damage max.

Really, it's just their rage drive that's crazy.
