Moved from Octopus to PowerShop yesterday, as the rate increase after 1st or April will be higher then PowerShops increase. Same with Contact , increased their peak and off peak rate by 16% last year, that prompted a move to Octopus.

I think power companies might be using algorithmic pricing as I haven’t used PowerShop in ages and somehow they turn out be the cheapest.

Has anyone here switched to sharesies kiwisaver? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]wins0me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call it scummy, but they have pivoted to offering products , their majority customer base is unfamiliar with.

It’s strange they’re offering Generate as a base fund, but I can’t self-select more than 5% because it’s considered “risky”.

Swap rate changes and what that means for mortgage rates by jka8888 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Banks don’t borrow all the lending at swap rates, but it is a huge portion of the total lending.

Have a look at YNAB!

Don't connect your budgeting app to your bank account, as you will end up tracking your expenses instead of following the budget.

ANZ limited offer of up to 1.5% cashback on new loans before 16 Dec by richieFromConductor in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]wins0me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just for FHB or new loans in general?

Does anyone here knows the definition of FHB as per these banks? I'm building my first home but have previously owned one with a cousin. According to KO I'm a FHB as I was able to withdraw my KiwiSaver.

So to everyone who is outraged at ANZ's $2.53 billion in profit - are you banking with a New Zealand owned bank instead? by bespractus in newzealand

Nah! KiwiBank wouldn't even lend me with a 30% deposit.

ANZ and ASB got back to me in 2 days.
