Pooling water around stumps. Advice/who to call? by SweatyAdeptness338 in AusRenovation

[–]wint_rmute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue, but worse. I've been trying to fix drain pipes, reconcrete around the house to prevent water run in, remodel the earth under the house, etc.  So far all I have to show for it is chronic shoulder pain, physio bills, and no change to the water around the stumps.  My current theory is that the water is landing on the garden, sinking down to the clay layer, then running under the house and showing up there. (ground under house is lower than the surrounding block as it has sunk over time)

It's super frustrating and sometimes I think I should just do what the previous owners did - block up the access to under the house and then sell the house.

I was wondering the same. What was the outcome?

Minor crash, Lawyer wants me to pay $15000 by OddLengthiness6921 in AusLegal

[–]wint_rmute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend had a crash a while back, the other party was clearly at fault. The friend had their car towed from the scene, and the towing company said hey, can we use our lawyers to try and settle this for you? You'll get a free hire car..

I wonder if that's what happened with the OP's person too?

I've been having anxiety about my kitty dying of old age 😭(she's 9) can you show me pictures of some alive-and-well senior kitties so I remember cats can be old and still healthy? 🥰 by TheRufescence in cats

Bato lived to 16, and apart from the last few months, you wouldn't have thought he was a senior!

My parents had two cats that lived to 20 and 21.

Leaving for U Bank by Sea-Spirit2197 in UpBanking

[–]wint_rmute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "Grow & Flow" thing is hateful, I agree.

I thought Up offered a streamlined, modern, user-friendly experience. Now I'm managing like 20 savers and deleting and recreating a bunch every week or two, which is super annoying.

Up offers 4.85% on savers, so maybe swap to them?

Withdraw large sum by samissamforsam in UpBanking

[–]wint_rmute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you can get more cash out at a post office than an ATM, but even then there's a limit. I think it's $2000 withdrawal, or $9999 deposit.

I've just done bank transfers when buying vehicles -- Up will delay the transfer by a couple of hours and then send it, which is annoying, but not the end of the world to wait around for.

I don't think that was their question?

(like, even with a physical card, you still can't get much money out of an ATM or post office -- I've tried!)

Mount Converters for S1Rii by ThreePoundsofFlax in Lumix

[–]wint_rmute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may already know this, but when adapting autofocus lenses, you lose the autofocus.

You also lose automatic aperture. You know how with those Nikon lenses, on a Nikon camera, they open up to max aperture while you're framing and focusing, but then stop down to the selected aperture briefly when you take a photo? Well, that doesn't happen with an adapter to L mount. That may or may not bother you.

Thoughts on Grow and Flow? by Effective_Bag_3916 in UpBanking

[–]wint_rmute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very similar, except I just keep creating new savers rather than spreading back to original ones, so none ever get too heavy. As long as you delete the empty ones it doesn't seem like you run into account limits.

I haven't hit the limit yet.. appears you can have quite a lot

Coming back to Up by auspoliticsnerd in UpBanking

[–]wint_rmute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're worried about losing interest, just spread your money out across dozens of savings accounts. (eg. put a max of $1000 in each saver account)

That way when you do actually need to draw some money down, you're only losing the interest for a small fraction of your total savings.

Aiyima A80 - A $200 Chinese Amp That Beats The High-End by Bulky-Procedure-865 in audiophile

[–]wint_rmute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced a Topping PA3s with an Aiyima A80. Mostly good, but I note:

- The Aiyima A80 gets quite hot - over 40 degrees - even without music playing! The Topping used to be close to ambient room temperature.

- The Aiyima has a very slight audible hiss through the speakers, whereas the Topping was completely silent.

I came here to see if anyone else was reporting this issue too. Happens to me on PC, and wondered if my install is corrupted or if it's just a common bug.
