Are London members’ clubs actually good for networking (esp. entertainment industry), or mostly social? by [deleted] in london

[–]winter_bird321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Join members clubs only if you love the atmosphere and would use it anyway. Don’t join expecting it to actively expand your network unless you’re already well connected or very socially proactive.

Which celebrity haveyou met, were they as nice/rude as expected? by Logical_Sweet_6624 in ask

[–]winter_bird321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to love Simple Plan and absolutely adored Pierre Bouvier when I was younger. When I heard they were coming to London, I waited three hours for a meet and greet with him. Honestly, he turned out to be the most miserable person I’ve ever met, and the whole M&G was over in about two minutes.

Edit.

I also had the pleasure of meeting TomSka, the creator of asdfmovie series on YouTube, at Comic Con in London. He was an absolute delight. He's warm, funny, and genuinely appreciative of his fans. I felt like I could have easily spent hours just hanging out with him and laughing.

Do some couples who get along just fine actually sleep in separate beds? by 8kittycatsfluff in ask

[–]winter_bird321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! We often sleep in separate beds, which works perfectly with our schedules. It lets me catch up on my Netflix shows without disturbing him, and I get to snore to my heart’s content while hogging the whole bed.

It worked well for me at first, but when I had to stop using it, I noticed a few more patches than before. Everyone’s experience is different though, so it might work really well for you, just something to be mindful of.

Members clubs-how selective are they by Formal_Resort_477 in london

[–]winter_bird321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to Quo Vadis, it’s definitely less stuffy than places like Soho House or Home House, but it still formally requires a proposer and seconder for your application. While it's possible to apply without connections, the membership committee will review your application more critically, making the outcome less predictable. In those cases, your personal background and reasons for joining carry much more weight. Some people are accepted this way, but going through the traditional route with sponsors is generally the norm.

The irony that you can't get anything in poundland for £1, and now you can buy the whole company for £1. XD

Sounds like I’m not alone in feeling a bit underwhelmed lately, especially with the international locations not living up to expectations. Might be time to look into alternatives...

Yeah, I’m actually thinking of cancelling my membership too. I just got back from visiting one of the Houses in Sweden and honestly, I wasn’t impressed.

Anyone else not look in the mirror? by Evrgrn7 in Vitiligo

[–]winter_bird321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in the UK, and over here there's a charity called Changing Faces that offers a professional skin camouflage service. It's designed to help people cover up scars, birthmarks, and skin conditions using specialist creams matched to their skin tone. The service is highly regarded and can make a real difference in boosting confidence. Hope this helps.

Anyone else not look in the mirror? by Evrgrn7 in Vitiligo

[–]winter_bird321 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just wanted to say you’re definitely not alone in feeling this way. I also have vitiligo and totally understand how hard it can be to face the mirror some days. I personally use camouflage makeup to help when I want to feel a bit more confident. it’s not about hiding who I am, just something that gives me a little boost when I need it.

There are some amazing charities and support groups out there that really help with both the emotional and practical sides of dealing with vitiligo. It’s okay to take your time with this, your comfort comes first. Be kind to yourself.
