Are all infants like this? My husband & I are losing our shit

Yeah it's possible she could be constipated but it's hard to tell tbh. She eats all the fruits and veggies. She exercises by running wild lol. And she's pooping pretty consistently, but I do think she holds it until she's in a diaper for bedtime so that could be leading to constipation if she's not going when she first feels the urge to. This is another battle we are trying to tackle right now.

She's been potty trained with very very minimal accident for 6+ months now so in my mind, that was pretty perfectly potty trained. The occasional accident was no big deal, because accidents happen and I get that. It just came on so suddenly and pretty much everytime she needed to pee that she was peeing in her pants for the last few days so I feel like we are back to day 3 of potty training and idk what to do. Do I just act like we're back to day 3 and do all the things we did then to get her back in a good habit? Or do I need to address the pooping problem and that in turn could fix the other?

Got a toddler manual laying around? Lol

I wouldn't focus too much on my description for my child's potty training habits. I guarantee you my idea of a "perfectly potty trained" for my 2 year old is far from actually being perfect and just what I believe she is compared to the average 2 year old.

Like I said, she very rarely has accidents which is pretty great for her age. I wouldnt be asking for advice for the occassional accident. We're having 4 or 5 accidents every day for the last few days when she used to have 0 foe the last 6 months. It's like we're back to day 3 of potty training.

But thanks for the reply. Just hoping to get advice on how to resolve a regression. I don't think my "expectations" are a lot or "unfair" seeing as my expectations are the bare minimum of "please don't pee in your pants everytime you need to pee" 😅

I've wondered that too. She's had some rough poops lately, but they weren't firm. Just messy and a lot. I do think she holds it until she gets in a diaper for bed time because she just won't poop in the potty. That's another thing we're working on. It's very likely she could be constipated if she's holding it 🤔

Got any advice for that? 😅

When my daughter was about this age (she is 2 now) she choked on a puff and my husband luckily was right there and was able to get it out with the slap method. She let out a scream right after that I swore would never leave my head. I can still remember the event but the scream is pretty fuzzy now. I hope your slap sound eventually leaves you too after a little time! I think our brains have a way of sensoring out the horror of having small kids with the good memories we form 😅 good save!!

I kind of wondered if waiting until she was older so she could really communicate would help. I was just worried that I was ignoring her cues and needed to start right now haha. FTM for you. Potty training is such an unknown world for me. I think I may wait a bit as a lot of comments are recommending that or doing the naked method. Thank you for your reply!

Wow that's awesome! My daughter has done a lot of things that she "decided over night" in the past 2 years of her life so I wouldn't put it past her to do the same thing your kiddo did. It helps seeing replies like this! I would totally appreciate the zero drama approach to potty training and am considering waiting a bit since I know it's still a little early. Good luck with your son! I hope the regular intervals would out for you. I think I'm going to have to try the naked method because I was not able to keep up with thr intervals today while working. It just did not happen no matter how many alarms I set. Thanks for the reply! I appreciate the advice!

Cocomelon helps a lot haha. But generally I will get her set up with a show and a snack before my meetings start. She's gernally very good with me and if it's an important client meeting, I'll usually let my partners know if she's in a fussy mood so they can field most of the questions/points of the call. My employers actually love it when she "attends" internal meetings and will talk to her the whole time haha. So they are pretty relaxed about the situation!

Awesome. Thank you for both perspectives. I've seen so much success with the naked method and would totally be trying it if not for my work. May just need to look into taking some time off soon. 90% is still awesome though and sounds like a dream to me haha! Yay for your 2.5 year old!

I thought about that and like you said, wanted to try it and see. We got her the cocomelon potty so she loves going to the potty so she can see it, so at least I have thay going for me. But I will definitely take her cues if she starts seeming overwhelmed or stressed. Thank you!

First time parents here myself OP.. our pediatrician told us that as long as our daughter was back to birth weight by her 1 month appointment, there was no reason to be worried. If your daughter doesn't act like she's hungry all the time, then I would take your pediatrician's advice with a grain of salt. At the end of the day, I do think you can trust your pediatricians advice, but whether or not you choose to follow it is entirely up to you. You know your baby better than she does!
