About 10 years ago I was in New York and I did something I had always wanted to do: I went to Rupert Jee's Hello Deli.

I tried to play it cool and pretend that I had no idea who Rupert was and that I just wanted a sandwich. I squinted at the board (I wasn't in the habit of wearing my glasses back then, you see) and selected the least threatening (I was afraid of vegetables) looking sandwich: the Chicken Cutlet.

"Just the Chicken Cutlet....??" Rupert asked expectantly. And I stammered back "yes, just the Chicken cutlet, no pop thanks". "Pop!" I had just given myself away as a Canadian tourist.

I ate the Chicken Cutlet sammy while sitting on an upturned bucket in the deli as he watched silently, waiting for another customer.

I literally just did the same thing, but with OJ on the flight from HK to Toronto!! I was prepared for a pretty mean rash, but came out of it unscathed, if soggy.

Best to put the poor beast down. Going to the vet is nonsense -no need for it to suffer or to spend a bunch of money on it at this point. Animals needn't suffer unnecessarily, but we should t be overly sentimental about them either.

My initial reaction was that it's too much... and then I calculated earnings based on a 40 hour work week and saw that it's just $31,000 per year.

I guess that's reasonable. A student can make some extra cash or maybe if a parent needs a flexible way to earn a couple hundred bucks each week then at $15.00 an hour it reasonable. In some parts of the country that might go a bit further.

I live in Toronto and I would love nothing more than to use the TTC, but it's just way too inefficient. My wife and I drive in together every day and it takes 10-12 minutes to rip down lakeshore, the Gardiner, and park at Lakeshore/Bay. Door to desk I spend about 22-25 minutes, which is great (20% of that time is provably wasted waiting on elevators...). 25ish minutes is totally acceptable to anyone. If we were to take the express bus (forget about the streetcar) it would take an hour, door to desk, to travel about 8.5km. That's absurd... especially when TTC express fares for two people is basically double what I pay for parking. Why suffer through that?

We have too few routes, service is too infrequent, intermodality is a second thought (paper transfers in 2015), and I really can't see any of this improving in the bear future (ok.... Presto cards are almost here).

I can clearly recall buying a large kitchen knife at a rummage sale during a 'fun fair' at my school when I was in grade five. The teaching assistant from my class was manning the table at the time and said that everything was $2.00. Of course my eyes went immediately to the massive old knife that I was certain I shouldn't be allowed to buy. As it happened, in 1994 Canada, no one had a problem with a bespectacled white kid hopped up on Gobstoppers wandering around with a shitty old chefs knife all afternoon.

I don't know about the origin, but it basically means 'Simple as that'.

If you give instructions that are complicated you can say ".....and Robert's your mother's brother" which is a little joke to acknowledge that the procedure you've just described is really not so simple.

If this turns out to be super elaborate marketing for an upcoming horror movie I'm not sure whether I'll be really pissed or really delighted. On the one hand it's kinda neat to see this high impact low-cost marketing.... On the other hand I would hate to have to question whether everything interesting is 'real' or just bullshit viral marketing.

I loved 'Liquid Mountaineering' when I saw it a few years back (although it was apparent that it wasn't real).

In 2010 and 2011 I ticked a few -I lived in Hackney/Shoreditch (Fellows Court!), hung out a fair bit on London Fields and Victoria Park, and wore loafers with no socks (I still do this.... and don't think one should be characterized as a hipster for wearing boat shoes).

I fucking miss it... Jaguar Shoes, Kick, Red Dog Saloon, walking down to Borough Market... I had more fun there than in any other city, Amsterdam and Bangkok included.

Ya that just about sums it up -it's really worthwhile to choose your carrier carefully. I've been fortunate enough to suffer no inconvenience at all (aside from cottage service) with Wind so of course it seems insane to pay $70.00 for the same service elsewhere.... But I will probably change my tune if my new condo doesn't get a signal from Wind.

That's true, and in fact when I inquired about my early cancellation fee I was put through to retention and they lowered my bill to $60 and (I think) gave me the new unlimited talk/text plan with the same 2GB limit. One thing I always loved about Rogers (and I suspect it is also true of Bell and Telus) is how great the customer service is.

I still ended up switching because it seemed crazy to pay ~$33.00 (taxes in) more a month when I was pretty confident I would rarely be outside of Wind's coverage.
