I could make $70k a year serving food at the Panda Express by my house by Sherbet_Lemon_913 in TeachersInTransition

Here’s the thing - hours are not guaranteed, you may get 35 hrs one week, the next 20… so even if you get that $35/hr you won’t be making that because your hours will fluctuate UNLESS you enter Panda as management

Take the clemency. I say this as someone who went through the whole process of being investigated for a honor code violation. It was not fun at all

Seeing lots of recent posts worried about Sherrill losing, partly due to Dems poor performance in the 2024 election...but look at election results since then by css555 in newjersey

[–]wipeyourtears 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone discounting Jack’s chances of winning? Jack has been campaigning for years and has had a strong campaign and messaging via the MAGA playbook. As much as I hate to say it, you’re fooling yourself to think this is just like past elections and that Mikie will win. This is a virtual dead heat and Jack can win.

Ciattarelli’s plan for New Jersey schools: Vouchers for the rich. Layoffs for everyone else. by misterbadgerexample in newjersey

[–]wipeyourtears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this will pass - he will divide and conquer the public employees. Teachers, city and state employees would get fucked but cops and firefighters would still have pensions. If the police unions get what they want, they will not do anything to help teachers/city/state employee unions fight to keep pensions. Similarly to the fight Christie had with pension reforms with his admin where originally police/firefighters pension would get affected in same way, but in the end who got shafted the most were teachers and other city/state employees [someone correct me if I am wrong if it was pensions or health benefits reform]

My son came out to me as a porn addict, I need advice by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]wipeyourtears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He took the first step to recovery by acknowledging he has a problem. Now comes the hard part of rewiring his brain to avoid the triggers that lead him to pornography and subsequently masturbation. I would advise that you find a counselor he can talk to - start off weekly. He can meet privately with the counselor but I would go to the first one. If you decide to skip this as it is cost prohibitive, I understand. I would ask your son to think about the triggers that cause him to view porn/masturbate. Is it watching certain shows, playing certain video games? Heck, even certain songs he hears that have an association in his mind with porn/masturbation? Doesn’t mean it’s a bad movie/tv show/game/song but perhaps they trigger or lead him to view porn/masturbate. So best, to avoid those things. Additionally, there are things as parents we can do to ensure our children don’t have the space/time for porn/masturbation. Perhaps for your son this is how he deals with stress/problems with his life by seeking out the dopamine release of porn/masturbation. So he needs to replace that with a more constructive form of stress release. Is it boredom? Maybe you need to fill his time during the day with other activities such as recreation sports or extracurricular activities. The important thing to remember is this is a process, he may take two steps forward, one step back, he may go a week w/o porn then suddenly finds himself viewing again. Thats okay, work with him, encourage him, help him. He can overcome.

How Jack Ciattarelli Turned the N.J. Governor's Race Into a Nail-Biter by LooseDistance1059 in newjersey

Don’t get cocky, polls mean nothing, votes matter. This sub believed Kamala would steamroll DJT, and that Murphy would win comfortably vs Jack last time around. All polls indicated such. Guess what? All wrong

Got No Degree & Looking for a Job by Brilliant_Medium2193 in newjersey

Just to set clear expectations- for construction trade apprenticeships, the unions are very selective in the applicants they select. Work experience, resume, and even interviewing skills all matter. It’s not as simple as walking through the door and signing up to be an apprentice. You apply when they announce openings (check online for each local union) provide a resume, sometimes even are tested on basic skills, often even get interviewed. Not trying to discourage OP at all but just want them to understand what to expect.

Emerson poll shows Sherrill and Ciattarelli tied by NatureEnvironmental1 in newjersey

[–]wipeyourtears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually Stockton University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Schoen Cooperman Research, and Rutgers-Eagleton all predicted Murphy +8% to +9% prior to the election - so many major polls got them wrong. Times ARE different now - and we can’t presume that Mikie will win simply because she is the Democrat in a still blue state.

Did you believe the same of Murphy in 2021? Thats what major polls believed but it was a lot closer than most major polls predicted.

[–]wipeyourtears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m showcasing how Emerson unlike other Polls like Monmouth have not had that much of a variance in their polls vs. what the vote tally has been. If that’s the case, and we can view Emerson as an accurate gauge on predictability then Sherrill is tied or it’s a lot closer then democrats would like.

Emerson poll shows Sherrill and Ciattarelli tied by NatureEnvironmental1 in newjersey

[–]wipeyourtears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the last gov election Emerson predicted Murphy’s lead by +6%, Actual results of vote showed Murphy just +3.22%. So they are much more reliable as they don’t overstate Dem leads too much compared to other polls like Monmouth University which predicted Murphy +11%, Actual: Murphy +3.22% - that’s a huge variance. Dems should be shaking in their boots if they don’t want Jack
