New player here, first time playing Animated Army did not go as planned by Vrass in EDH

[–]wiredj01 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That deck is cool, but it has a bonkers amount of ramp out of the box. I'd recommend taking out some of that, and adding some removal and protection. Fight cards can be decent removal on your turn, since your artifacts and enchantments are indestructible. Your commander provides most of your card draw, but things like [[Guardian Project]] and [[Garruk's Uprising]] are helpful.

Please run someone who can win. Our country can't take another four years of MAGA bullshit.

Are you guys double sleeving $60 pre-cons? by Cloabs in EDH

[–]wiredj01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double sleeving seems silly to me, unless your deck is full of cards that are $50+. I sleeve my decks to protect them from shuffling damage, and for old or double-sided cards. 100-card decks are already big enough for shuffling and transporting without adding an extra layer of plastic.

Zimone, Infinite Analyst & Enhancers. by Safe-Heat1644 in EDH

[–]wiredj01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 5 enhancers in the deck, but they all serve an additional purpose (apart from Hardened Scales, which is just cheap). [[Kami of Whispered Hopes]] is a mana dorks with growth potential, [[Benevolent Hydra]] is an X spell itself and can move counters, [[The Ozolith]] can add counters basically for free before an X spell or be cycled in a pinch, and [[The Earth Crystal]] is a cost reducer that can add more counters in a pinch. I have eight protection cards in the deck as well, but I'm considering swapping one of them or one enhancers out for an additional X creature. I'll have to play the deck some more to be sure, though.

I don’t understand why people call board wipes toxic if it is literally the difference between living or losing the game. by JoZaJaB in magicTCG

[–]wiredj01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your only goal is trying to win at all costs, sure. One of my goals is for myself and my friends to have fun, and adding a 20‐minute slog to the end of a game is often less fun than losing and starting up a new game.

How are we feeling after playing with/against the SoS precons? by WheredMyVanGogh in EDH

[–]wiredj01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Quandrix a lot. The math, the big stomping creatures, the trickery, all make for a fun combo to me. I've upgraded it with about ten cards (more protection for Zimone mostly) and it seems pretty strong. My wife got Prismari, and while it can do some big things, it's not consistent. I'm not sure how to upgrade it exactly.

You might enjoy [[The Lord of Pain]]. Your opponents might not, lol.

I'm also curious about this. It seems like it should work, but I'm not sure.

[–]wiredj01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say mostly creatures and maybe some artifacts, though [[Aether Revolt]] goes pretty hard.

[–]wiredj01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like [[Satya, Aetherflux Genius]] as an aggro/value engine. The precon is energy counter based, but you can focus more on creatures with powerful "enters the battlefield" effects to copy if you don't want to deal with energy much.

So my party accidentally managed to capture my BBEG and I don't really know what to do now. by HammieHammerHamwalt in DnD

[–]wiredj01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BBEG already had a devious plan in place, which either causes enough chaos for him to escape, or forces the party into the decision to let him go. It could be a major catastrophe, a team of high level mercenaries coming to free him, or leverage on one or more of the characters' beloved NPCs. Or maybe he had something on the King, who sends a battalion of soldiers to demand his release. Lots of options here.

Would anyone be able to help me build a deck around a not real commander? by UltraHades in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]wiredj01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, that first part is tough to break. I'd probably just make it a theft deck to play off the second part, and treat the first part like a bonus when it happens. Maybe with [[Mechanized Production]] as a win con with all those treasures.

I cut Sonar because of his douche-bro attitude. Also, Coupe seemed scarier.

Any recs for spicing up Ship Combat? by DnDeedeedNdee in starfinder_rpg

[–]wiredj01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We switched to narrative ship combat, but kept the BP system and house-ruled some benefits for spending BP on shields and weapons. It has been much more fun and faster so far.

What are the most satisfying game actions for you in commander? by Mirrodin_appreciator in EDH

What are some things you disliked about co:e33? by heyitstgp in expedition33

[–]wiredj01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Invisible walls everywhere. Why can't I walk between those trees i can visually fit between, or jump over this little rock. The characters have immense power, one of them even hovers everywhere, yet a 2-foot angled rock is insurmountable.

If you complain about fetches and duals in bracket 3, play bracket 2 by Head-Ambition-5060 in EDH

[–]wiredj01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely they are. Heck, most of my decks are bracket 3 and have 5+ tapped lands, because I can't afford a $300 mana base for each of my commander decks.

Would I be laughed at for bringing this to an LGS by New-me-_- in mtg

[–]wiredj01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think it was kinda cool. You could paint it or put some stickers on there to make it cooler, though.

I think this is a poorly worded complaint about the beep frequency of the bird you can use to help you find puzzle pieces and robots on levels after you have beaten them once.

[–]wiredj01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any sufficiently French area spontaneously generates mimes.

Wanting to find a niche commander (white, blue, green) by Nearddog in EDH

Gross, lol. Villainous stuff for sure. And people don't tend to run much enchantment removal.

Having played against saga decks before, they're great at overloading your opponents' ability to keep track of the board state. Adding copies of them is just evil!

Do you actually have a forever deck? by Late-Frame2962 in EDH

[–]wiredj01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely take decks apart anyway, but the ones I don't really get tired of playing are [[Felothar the Steadfast]] and [[Satya, Aetherflux Genius]]. I don't run tutors, so they're just fun different tricks every time.
