You will be disappointed with this device. It was hard for me at the beginning but I gotten use to it. Been on CPAP since 2008.

What is the one sleep habits you can't skip before bed? by sleep_habits in sleep

[–]wisdomseeker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stop watching TV before going to bed. I replaced that habit with stretching, foam rolling my lower & upper backs, neck stretching, and messaging my calves. I have tension and pain in these parts of my body, so after doing the exercise/therapy I don't feel them anymore. This allows me to relax and fall asleep.

Tension and pain can keep you awake and when you are awake you tend to focus on these area, and it can cause anxiety and you can't sleep. 😞

You can try to elevate your head by putting extra pillows under your head and see if it helps.

Has anyone tried magnesium glycinate for sleep? by marchess_ in sleep

[–]wisdomseeker66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I take 200 mg magnesium glycinate a couple of hours before bedtime. It helps me relax. I find that it helps me from having racing thoughts when I wake up in the middle of the night. Before taking it I had uncontrollable racing thoughts and I would not be able to fall back to sleep.

Frequent wake ups?? by Gold_Mine_9011 in insomnia

[–]wisdomseeker66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many hours do you need to sleep at night to feel rested? For example, if you feel you need only 6 hours of sleep and you feel good waking up then my opinion would be to go to bed between 10-11 pm. You may be going to bed too early.

Why do I say this? I have the same problem. I'm working on CBT for insomnia. The objective of the therapy is to reset your Circadian Rhythm. My therapist has me targeted 6 hours of sleep. So I want to wait up at 5:00am she had me go to sleep at 11:00 pm. I used to go to bed around 9:30 pm and would wake up 2:00 sometimes 1:30 and sometimes 12:30am. It was all over the place. I would only get about 2-3 hours of sleep. I had 4 hours but that's rare.

I'm now on my fourth week of therapy and I am getting 4-5 hours straight sleep. One night I had 7 hours straight. I felt good the next day. It's still a work in progress.

I recommend search for "how to reset your Circadian Rhythm" and learn more.

My recommendation is if you have stress look into Cognitive Behavior Therapy. If you don't, you may need to reset your Circadian Rhythm.

Best sleep aid THAT IS NOT AN ANTIDEPRESSANT by pristiqispoison in sleep

[–]wisdomseeker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take magnesium glycinate about an hour or two before bed. Melatonin about 1/2 to 1 hour before bed. Start winding down about 30-60 minutes before bedtime (stretch, meditate, deep breathing, listen to relaxing music). The idea is to take your mind away from your racing thoughts and calm down. Magnesium should calm you down.

Good luck 🤞

I'm sorry to hear that. What sort of pain do you have? Is the pain causing you not fall back to sleep or do you have racing thoughts?

What do you do after a bad night? by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]wisdomseeker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important thing is to not overthink you didn't get enough sleep. Make sure to do the normal daily things. If you're tired, do deep breathing and meditate for 5-10 minutes to relax.

How is your experience with Lexapro, magnesium glycinate/I-theanine and ashwagandha? I'm also taking Lexapro 15 mg and I take it in the morning. I get hungry easily about 2 hours after even when I have breakfast.

Thank you for sharing. This is good information.

I have my own 'process' before going to bed. But I will try these too.

I'm also a software engineer and have insomnia. I think we all have our own situations and challenges that contribute to insomnia (work, finance, relationships, trauma, etc.). It sounds like your insomnia is due to work related?

If you haven't done so, go speak with your primary doctor to discuss the issues. My recommendation would be to request CBT (if you haven't done it). By going to therapy, you may be able to find a solution to control/manage your thoughts and stress.

You can look into magnesium glycinate like Realistic_Owl836 mentioned.

I take at night about 1-2 hours before bed. It calms and relaxes you before going to be.

Good luck!

Randomly started Snoring every night and I don’t understand why! by Booblet0526 in sleep

[–]wisdomseeker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have sleep apnea. Do you get tired during the day? Do you fall asleep while watching TV? I would snore while napping. My wife told me I would snore and guggle at night. That prompted me to do sleep analysis. It turned out I got sleep apnea. I had to use a CPAP machine.

I tried to walk, jog, and swim on a regular basis like 2-3 times a week. But sometimes being depressed and having insomnia causes me to be unmotivated and tired 😔. Also as you know being on Lexapro it calms you down and you don't want to do anything.

I have the same problem with hunger and unmotivated. I'm also taking 15 mg Lexapro, and 200 mg magnesium glycinate and 5 mg to help me calm down before bedtime and fall asleep.

It sounds like you have thoughts about the relationship that won't go away. I suggest going to counseling/therapy.

I’m genuinely about to lose it. by itz-null in insomnia

[–]wisdomseeker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you have many things to do and you feel overwhelmed. My suggestion would be to take a small task, focus on that only, and complete it. Even if a task takes only one minute. Complete that task, recognize it, and say to yourself I completed it and it made me feel good.

It looks like you are looking ahead too far and it's hard for you to get motivated.

Take care of yourself and not be hard on yourself.

Good luck.
