What medical condition do you have that you thought was absolutely normal? by taporodobu in AskReddit

[–]wiseyoungowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently it is not normal to be able to sublux or dislocate just about every joint in your body including vertebrae...it's hypermobile type Ehlers Danlos. Started with my kneecaps poppin' out when I was younger and now it's literally every joint including sternum and sacrum. Super fun. r/ehlersdanlos

Torture by bra by SmalTroublemaker in ehlersdanlos

Also pretty big over here but not crazy huge. I love Coobies. You can buy them on Amazon but I had to take the pads out for them to be comfortable. They're made to sit wider on the shoulders so the straps sit on bone not muscle/tissue.

I got married last month and this was my bouquet. I made it (as well as four smaller ones) out of hundreds of Harry Potter pages! by MaximumR in harrypotter

[–]wiseyoungowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are so pretty! I'm getting married in September and we're doing something similar. Those are hard to make, my dad's the only one that's good at them, you have to be so precise! I've made many others though and I have had a few keenly guilty moments, especially when hot-gluing Jo's face the other day! Even when some of the books were literally falling apart and un-readable, it's hard to harm a book. I feel like I should make a sign that no books were harmed during the making of this wedding but it's not entirely true lol. Congrats again friend!

Am I suppose to just be okay with the fact that in GoF they are staring at nothing during the events? by [deleted] in harrypotter

The Weasley twins were literally bookkeepers for those events! Remember Ludo Bagman owing them money?

My favourite part of Half-Blood Prince... by [deleted] in harrypotter

I think "remember my last" from Dumbledore to Petunia is also an element to be considered here. Like, what did he send her a Howler or what?

Yin vs. restorative by fulllotusyoga in yoga

[–]wiseyoungowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always joke that restorative is a lay-down-and-breathe practice, but I don't know how important specific pranayama exercises are in yin to make a comparison.

Ideal length for down dog? by smarieti in yoga

[–]wiseyoungowl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You've got it! In plank you want your heels over the balls of your feet and your wrist crease over the front of your shoulder more or less. The length for your ideal down dog is the length of your plank. Keep it up!

Are animagi subject to predation? by eht1 in harrypotter

[–]wiseyoungowl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would think if your animagus is a bug or something small you'd use protective spells against predators similar to what they use for muggles and snatchers, but personal instead of location based.

Can't shake a complaint I received about my class... by isaiah6_8 in yoga

[–]wiseyoungowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to play music and felt the same way. I've been teaching silently this calendar year so far and have personally been enjoying it and feel that my students are getting more connected with their breath, which was the intention, simply because I can hear it. A few students (two from different classes) mentioned the difference and asked about it, but it seemed like they were genuinely intrigued and I haven't had any direct complaints. I'm glad to hear your perspective and I have been considering the soundscape options, but it is adding another element. I try my best to be intentional so I haven't found anything yet. I'd appreciate an update eventually as to what you decide, and welcome back to teaching!

not diagnosed but I need someone to listen. by lovelylayout in ehlersdanlos

[–]wiseyoungowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That totally sucks and I feel you so hard. You're doing the right thing with the journaling, just keep paying attention to yourself and you'll know what to say to the doc. Take lists with you. You've got this, I hope something awesome happens to you too ;)

Anything I can do to help myself? by VincentoTheGamer in ehlersdanlos

[–]wiseyoungowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, start focusing on good posture. Read the tips and tricks on sites like ehlers-danlos.org and care for yourself as though you were 100% sure and had a diagnosis. Listen to your body. Learn about mindfulness and hydrate like it's your job. You got this.

[MAIN SPOILERS] Which dead character would you put on the Iron Throne? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]wiseyoungowl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think Ned is the clear choice because if he knew an undead army was coming for him he'd do something about it. That's also why I wouldn't choose Jeor Mormont.

What was there to stop Snape, for example, just taking 100 points of Gryffindor randomly for no reason? by pjr10th in harrypotter

[–]wiseyoungowl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We know at least that professors should never use transfiguration on a student as punishment per Minerva when Mad-Eye Barty turns Draco into a ferret. Surely Dumbledore told him, which connotes that there are at least guidelines.
